Stirplate on the way. Ebay, $26.00

Found this stirplate on Ebay, $26.00 + shipping. I'm looking forward to getting it. I have made several starters, but have never had a stirplate to keep it mixed up.

    My new Lager Locker!

[/IMG] A friend of mine used to have a night club. He shut it down around 7 years ago. I was telling him I was looking for an old chest freezer to use as a fermentation temp control locker. He told me he had an old three keg, kegerator / fridge that had not been used since he shut downhis...

    Brew Sculptures help!

How I use my HERMS: I have a burner under my MT, I heat my measured strike water to my calculated strike temp. At the same time I heat my HLT to around 3 to 5 degrees above my mash temp. Once my MT is at strike temp, I shut off the burner under the MT & I stir in my grain and let it settle...

    Brew Sculptures help!

Mine is a home made HERMS, using 3 keggles. My HLT has a 50' coil of 3/8 copper as a heat exchanger and uses 2 March pumps. So far so good. I learn something new everytime I brew. It's always changing. If you have the time, research and figure out what you want and then build it.

    Dough in process

I heat my measured mash water to strike temp, then dump all the grain into the MT & stir. Then, after it settles in, I set my HERMS manifold on top of my grain bead & begin to recirculate my wort. This has worked fine for me.:D

Is a 5 cu. ft. chest freezer big enough?

I don't remember, got it at Lowes, on sale around $139.00. Was white, sanded down and painted with Rustoleum crinkle spray paint. It has brass three tap tower. :mug:

    New Toy

Nice, I wanted one, just couldn't find the cash. Had to build my ole home made HERMS. All manual, lots of fun, lots of work. Yours should be easier to control. Enjoy!:mug:

    Aeration

I inject pure O2 right after my wort comes out of my plate chiller @ 2LPM. It then is pumped into my primary. So far, it has worked great!:D

PM: Couldn't get a grainbed to form... husks in my wort.

I've never had that happen....

Next brew I'll try my new in-line oxygenator.

Used 2 LPM O2 setting, very little foam..... Seems to work great! I'm fermenting like a mofo!:ban:

New way I came up with to strain my hops!

I have never filtered any of my beers. They all are fairly clear. That might be next. I just don't like putting my hops in a bag during the boil. I don't feel like I get the whole flavor / aroma.... I had just rather figure out how to keep them out of my CFC. Things were a lot simpler when I...

New way I came up with to strain my hops!

Used a fine mesh bag over my kettle return line. Took off my SS braid and pumped the pellet hops out after the boil through the kettle pick up through the pump back to the kettle into the straining bag. Worked like a charm. All the hops were filtered out and it was easy to pump through my CFC...
