Oxiclean on Stainless I DARE you to prove me wrong

I have left oxi/based cleaners in my kegs for weeks with no noticeable damage. I can’t see or feel any pits. It does react with some of my cheap SS parts such as T's and clamps and such. But at the correct dilution level I don’t think it will damage kegs or pots. But what do I know. :drunk:

Stuck fermentation? or just bottle it

you don’t want to stir it hard or you can oxidize it. Just a few gentle swirls and then to a warmer location.

Need to bottle from keg without counter pressure!?

If this is for Binnys they already closed the competition.

    Large Quantity Brewing

Large auto siphon. You will have to hold it in the barrel to get the last few gallons though.

This is why I make my own beer! well, it's also fun..

I just dumped all my beer burned down my brewery and grabbed my bible. I feel much better now that I am going to live. But I did drink a lot of beer and water in Europe for Oktoberfest does that mean I am done for because it tasted so good.

    Large Quantity Brewing

Those are food grade and work. My local HBS sells them and I got one before when they were out of buckets. I fermented in it twice using a garbage bag that I soaked in sanitizer and then used bungee cords as a giant rubber band to hold it on. It worked but was a pain in the ass and looked like...

Barbar Belgian Honey Clone wont clear

I actually just taped my third batch of this last night. As for the first batch it was just way too soon with the honey and wheat in it. And being pretty new at the time I hurried it by following the directions on the recipe. My second batch I raised up the honey which was a mistake, it just had...

Brewers Best - Belgian Tripel...too sugary?

Belgians need more time than most beers. Put the bottles away for a few months and then test one here and these. I made the mistake of starting to brew making nothing but Belgians and thought that I was doing something wrong. It was later on that I learned I just wasn’t giving them enough time...

    Cleaning vs. Sanitizing

Yea don’t toss. My first few batches that were all kits I just used the packet of cleaner that came with the kit and never had an issue. I now use a sanitizer also just to be safe but the beers that I didn’t use a separate sanitizer still came out fine.

    Little White Specks in Secondary

Hard to tell from the picture but its most likely just some yeast. I wouldn’t worry. Even if it spreads just be careful when you rack it and try not to disturb the top layer as much as possible and let an inch or so of beer behind when you bottle so you don’t suck up the floaters. :mug:

New brew room in the works.

Had to pull it out of the box to get a look at it! Cant wait to pee all over it! Some more sanding tonight, apply last coat on the joints and my floor epoxy kit came in yesterday so I can almost smell the first batch brewing. I just hope the boy doesnt try to sit on the pisser! If I find...

    my first starter

Yea I didnt see that about the Oktober but good call non the less.:) Back to the topic, glad to hear everythiong is going well Davis. Starters will become just another automaited step after a few and the online calculators work well so give them a try.

    my first starter

You really dont want to bump up the gravity of a starter since you want the yeast to be happy. It should be about 1.040 so 1/2 cup DME per pint of water. As for the boil over did you add the DME to the water cold or when boiling. Addiding DME to boiling water is almost an immediate boil over...

    my first starter

Is he brewing a lager? Since it was noted that it was only his 2nd batch I assumed that he wasn’t brewing a lager but I could be wrong. So yes a lager would require a larger starter if that’s what’s being brewed.:mug:

    Cocoa powder?

Yes. You will get a better Chocolate flavor from nibs vs. coco powder. I made many chocolate stouts and I now use coco powder at flameout and then nibs in the secondary for about a month for all my Chocolate beers. I also like using the nibs since I can taste the beer while in secondary and...
