    greetings from the DC suburbs

yep, I have had my well water tested. No detectable iron (below limit of detection) and everything else looks good for brewing a wide range of beers with no adjustments. Thanks for mentioning that.

    greetings from the DC suburbs

Michael, Welcome to the forum from a Texas member. As stated by the previous poster, there are lots of recipes and calculators on here to take the guesswork out of your brewing. I grew up near your area (Baltimore and Anne Arundel Counties). I also do DME (with a mini mash) but am switching to...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Did my next to last extract batch today in the small Vevor kettle before switching to all grain. Big Basin- American Amber Ale, OG 1.062, pitched at 66F (Lutra), ambient temp 80F. I want to compare with the previous batch (pitched at 95F Lutra) ambient temp 80F. I Use Palmers method- 3 gallon...

What he did was throw the dried harvest waste ( about 1/2 pound of mostly fan leaves/ a little bit of smaller leaves trimmed from the flowers) into a mesh bag. He says he did 4 , one hour long soaks in lukewarm water (about 100F) , gently squeezing out and discarding the water each time to...

    Show Us Your Label

Labels from my best buddy from a book he bought. Anyone else besides this idiot brewing cannabis beer? He's a vet (Nam) and swears by it for his PTSD . I can't believe I'm the one who taught this miscreant how to brew. I gave him some old plastic buckets with grommets and some old airlocks...

I survived pitching Lutra into Amber Ale at 95F

Lutra. Wow, just wow. I really likey the Lutra. I was tired , it was after midnight and I was at 95F wort temp. I had prehydrated a pack of Lutra Kviek (I normally pitch ale yeast dry) so I just top pitched it in, expecting it to go nuclear. I had one of those 8 gallon Chinese SS fermentors, I...

What came in the mail for you today?

Yes, I bought 1 plant of neo mexicanus last year and it never made it. Only 1 of the cascades I bought last year made it. See photo. I have yet to plant the ones I bought this year. Will get that done this week and let them grow through the rest of the summer and fall. If they don't take I'm...

    Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA

I bought a case of that a while back. It was expensive, about 2x more potent than my homebrew Ale while not as tasty. I did make it part of my daily beer experience by saving the bottles for bottling my ale. The bottles are really nice (no screw top) and on par or even a little better than the...

    What are you drinking now?

Most likely shouldn't mention this in the beer forum, but I'm sipping on some Bray's One Month Mead I bottled in late Dec/early January?. I had it stored at Texas room temp -80 F (forgot about it) and then put it in kegerator at 50 F. Its better now than it was at bottling.
