    water expertise requested please

Yep, Wards is less than 37 USD (Yep, I'm cheap). Oh BTW speaking of Cheap, I get all my books from Thriftbooks (used book dealer). They happen to have that book for sale ($19.95 marked down to $11.69 USD) right now, only 1 copy heh. See Here Texas Tea, your source for Cheap!

    water expertise requested please

mg/l is ppm. That water is clean. You will need to add salts etc. How much did that analysis cost? When I first started brewing, I sent all my water to a lab in Texas the state uses for all its water analysis. They are good, local (I could drive to it), certified and accredited to do that...

    Managing the Mess

I have tried growing hops and it's hard. I'm on the hairy edge of the growing region for hops (Gulf coast, Texas). I have mystery hops too! (B grade rhizomes unidentified as to to cultivar. 22 bucks for 20 rhizomes. I have some more identified (Cascade, Centennial etc.) Where you are located is...

What I did for beer today

Bottled 55 bottles of Amber Ale. Cleaned out SS fermentor and bottling bucket. My daughter came by with some good non screw cap bottles (Ichi Kirin) to add to my collection of SA, SN, New Belgian, and St Arnolds. She's been saving bottles for me.

What I did for beer today

Bought this thing at Aldi's today. It was on sale and beer related so in the basket it went. You place the bottle or can inside the tower. Now instead of 2 things to clean (bottle and glass) I have 3 (bottle, glass + dubious usefulness beer dispenser). This really is a sickness isn't it? I'm not...

Henbane Beer is a very stupid idea (i'm gonna do it)

Polycyclic alcohols are responsible for the Coleus effects if I remember correctly (It's been a really long time since I researched that). Never consumed Coleus but the chemistry behind it is interesting.

Henbane Beer is a very stupid idea (i'm gonna do it)

Ah, henbane. The infamous tropane ring (7 sided ring). Fun factoid, You know what else has a tropane ring? If you guessed cocaine you would be correct. It was traditionally used in some gruits. In Jr High some of the kids used to mix henbane in with the weak marijuana back in the day and smoke...
