    Spike Solo Owner's Thread

@Bobby_M can you suggest anything better?

    Spike Solo Owner's Thread

Of course. I hadn't considered that. I'm gonna give it a shot since I have the parts now and then figure out something better afterwards

Fwiw, they literally responded to my email within 5 minutes and had a replacement kettle shippng out within an hour. This is within 1.5 hours of me recieving it! I shipped back the dented kettle today as I hope to show them the same courtesy they have shown me. I aim to test it all out this...

lol, I have the opposite from norcal brewing. (QD outside basket and threaded male npt inside. I had an extra female npt/male BLQD laying around) I bought a female npt/female BLQD to thread onto the autosparge. Someday I'll be npt free, but this is all fine for now and into the foreseeable...

I'd hate to have to cut down and rethread that arm for it to fit

Do you have pics of the parts you were gonna use for the auto sparge? From what I've measured my setup should fit, but now you have me second guessing myself. You have 20 or 15 gallon solo?

    Spike Solo Owner's Thread

I plan to use a blichmann autosparge so that IF I walk away and it gets stuck I don't have a mess on the floor. I do plan to test with water different flow rates and find a way to measure/mark them on a ball valve. I intend to start with the often suggested here on HBT 75% back to whirlpool and...

What rate do you recirculate at? Do you recirc just using the tube spike provides?

New EBIABasket system initial brew day (apologize for the long post in advance)

You built your own spike solo that you like better. Nice. My spike Solo arrived yesterday and I was pleased to see the basket in person and that the "cone" isn't as severe as some have said. Cheers either way 🍻

Ideal Keg PSI for Pressurized Transfer after Spunding

This thread got pretty intense! Anyways, thanks for all the info. I've performed many closed transfers now, but was wondering what differential was best. Mine have been around 3 so far, but next kegging I'm gonna shoot for 1. Thanks, you maniacs!

I'd like to get to 70% mash efficiency. If I get that without sparging or any other nonsense then I'd be happy and leave well enough alone as I agree. If end up in the high 50s/low 60s I'll have to fine tune a bit. Not chasing 80s or 90s I made a recipe in beersmith and put in 65% efficiency as...

    Hydrometers.... what is actually good?

I still have a hydrometer, but I only use my tilt now. It had matched my hydrometer so many times and is easier to use.

    Fermenator G4

I don't see why anyone would want a sight glass on a fermenter

    Spike Solo Owner's Thread

I'm definitely gonna take your advice there and plan to do exactly what you suggest. How do guys in traditional 3v setups achieve high mash efficiency without super fine biab grinds? My first brew on the Solo I'm gonna follow their suggestions, but after I was gonna hold a gallon of treated...

    New spike lids

I imagine many guys will mount each accessory with a butterfly valve inline.

What's the best option to warm up your chestfridge fermentation chamber?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077CV152R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_89J87H8wFPiAK I use this with an inkbird and have had no issues whatsoever. I have it inside of a stand-up freezer with a spike flex+

What I did for beer today

Second dry hop for my most recent west coast IPA. 1.25oz chinook and 2.5oz centennial. I could easily fit 5oz I'm glad I just used the 1.5" tc port and didn't blow money using the 4"!
