Finished beer is kicking my .... Rear

Just realized the calculator is in Beersmith as well so can use. Unsure on accuracy but others say it will get you close.

Finished beer is kicking my .... Rear

This one doesnt. I was told that was a neat thing you could do with a refractometer. That and a hydrometer will give you OG and ABV without any prior measurements. http://www.northernbrewer.com/refractometer-calculator/

Finished beer is kicking my .... Rear

Somewhat new, but isnt it possible to calculate Approx. ABV and OG using a current Brix and current gravity? Assuming he had access to a refractometer.

First brew, how did I do.

Looking for some advice, suggestions, tips, etc. I have been thinking about transferring into a secondary. I have read a few topics here on people adding things in secondary to flavor the beer some. One I am interested in trying is peppers. I had a chili beer before and loved it (big fan of...

First brew, how did I do.

She's a brewin. Checked on it this morning ≈32 hours and no krausen yet, but I noticed the airlock go a couple times. Got home from work 10 hours later and thick krausen layer, airlock bubbling. :rockin: Been at a constant 60° F.

Trader Joe 750 ml swing top bottles

So being fairly new to homebrewing (first batch in primary last night) from what I can tell this is a good deal for those bottles right? I have a trader joes pretty close to me but never go. Is $2.99 the normal price for that ginger or some sort of sale right now?

Ok I finally got my first batch in the primary. Other than helping my dad 20+ years ago when he got into brewing this is my first time on my own. Started with a basic extract kit. Brewers Best American Light. I started with about 6.3 gallons of water. I had read some online that average is 1...

Anyone reuse Trader Joes 750 ml ginger brew bottles? Just wondering if 2.99 is a good deal on those bottles, regardless of contents?

    Noon question

I know him as well as I know anyone posting in this post, not well. As for the secondary and scientific data. Purely playing devils advocate as you seem to know what your talking about. But if there is as you say no scientific data to back up its worth doing, doesnt that also mean there is...

    Noon question

That seems to be a fairly common question. A simple search on these forums shows that its a heated topic that comes up often with no clear winner. For every person that says not to that no proof to benefits, others say they always do and notice a difference in taste, color, cloudiness. The...

    Noon question

I did manage to find a bit more on the yeast at Danstar's website and they mention 57° to 70°F as range for ferment. I had not thought about the increase in temp with fermenting. I think on the floor would get me down to what your recommending with the increase in ferment temp but I will be...

    Noon question

Greetings all. My dad years ago (20+) got into brewing and I helped him a few times. He hasn't done it in years and I just picked up equipment to start doing it myself. Lots changes in some areas. Few questions before I start my first batch. Picked up a BB kit " American Light" I myself enjoy...
