    how long to age?

Since you're dealing with stout level gravities, I would transfer to a secondary for at least another 2 weeks. Then bottle. That's just my opinion though, I'm sure you'll get plenty more

    double boil starter

Quick question, I'm currently making a yeast starter, and I'm doing a double boil in my new flask (thank you Santa). Anyways, is the liquid inside the flask supposed to boil? Because mine is not and I don't want to add my yeast to something that isn't sanitary. I've been boiling for about 20...

Flavor contribution of flaked barley, wheat, oats & carapils

So I am coming up with a milk stout recipe, and I have a question. I'm not sure what to add for body and head retention. From my understanding, flaked barley, wheat, oats, and carapils are all options. My question is what will the main flavor differences be? I've only ever brewed stout...

12 hours into first home brew...how does it look?

yeah, I've never opened my primary until it's well finished. Just watch the airlock for bubbles. I wouldn't leave the lid loose. Don't want to risk ruining all the delicious beer! After 4-7 days it should stop bubbling. I'll leave it for another day or two just to be sure it has stopped...

    Aging a Russian Imperial Stout.

I'm trying to find the answer to the same questions, and I also would like to know why. I've got a stout that I've been aging in the secondary for a month. I'd like to empty out my carboy so I can use it for other beers. Would my stout be better if left to age in the secondary? My OG is...

    Recipe Help - Honey Wheat

Alright sounds like I will go with the honey malt then. Any suggestions on what percentage wheat and 2 row I should use in my partial mash?

    Recipe Help - Honey Wheat

Ok so I have a ton of questions for this one. I will try to ask as few as necessary. This is going to be my first partial mash. I figured it would be a good one to start with since there are so few ingredients, and I don't want to make a beer almost entirely from barley and wheat extracts...

    Hello and Prost! from Ohio

Hi, My name is Matt, and I'm living in Ohio, about to move to Columbus. If anybody knows of some good local home brew supply stores in Columbus, let me know since I will need to find a new one soon. My first batch was in the secondary about this time last year. I've brewed about 10...
