Can I use regular chlorine as a sanitizer instead of star San or iodophor? Are there any extra steps I need to take to protect the wort and yeast if I do?

If you're talking about a wort chiller, I've looked at those and I know they save time but my god they are expensive. I realize its copper but its something else to clean and store. Ill see how big of a PIA sink chilling is and go from there.

I got a 5 gallon (20 qt) with my kit. I realize I will only be able to do partial boils. I may pick this one up as well. You can't beat that price!

I did a Google search for home brewing information and this forum was the third or fourth in the list. I believe that the exact search was "home brewing".

Maybe when the kids, including the one that hasn't been conceived yet, are out of the house. In the meantime, I will have three kids in a four bedroom house with no basement...no room for a brewery!

I wish I had a LHBS! The closest I've got is over an hour drive and they are priced miles above what I just paid. The kit I just got was $250 with shipping and the local store was $80 just for a similar sized kettle PLUS almost 100 miles of driving round trip. We are heading that way tomorrow...
