    When to add flavored vodka?

Was recently reading a recipe where some added 750 ml of flavored vodka to the bottling bucket. Is this correct time to add this or should it be in the secondary? Also, is 750 ml alot of vodka for a 5 gallon batch? Cheers!

Regulator gauge reads empty on new tank

The fact that you said it felt light makes me think you got an empty tank or a very low volume co2 tank.

Opened my bucket, will it still be ok ?

As long as everything was sanitized, you're fine. Please do not bottle after 7 days. Let sit at least 14 days in primary fermentor OR move to secondary for 14 days after one week in primary

    mashtun leak solution

My homemade mashtun had been having a slight leak despite several washers being put on. Well, I finally just decided to put on some high temp silicone. Well, after 4 batches....no leaks, no worries!!! Forgive me if this was posted before, but silicone can save you alot of aggrevation!!!

    Indoor brewing options?

As mentioned, your only indoor restrcitions are brew pot and strength of stove. I would simply do 2.5 gallons batches and continue to use the mash tun. No need to give up the mashing process. cheers

    CO2 Tank empty!!!!

OK, went to pour a pint todat and CO2 tank is empty!!! It is a 5lb tank and had it filled 2.5 weeks ago!! I checked all connections with soapy water when I installed. I will admit I did not check the keg seal (Big O ring), because it seemed liked it sealed very tight. What the heck...

Rye IPA Recipe Check (repost, sorry im a noob)

I would think you would still want hops at the start of the boil. If you're looking for the rye to come through, find a good clone recipe for Sierra Nevads Ruthless Rye. Nicely hopped with great rye notes!! One of my favorites! Hey, maybe that will be on deck for me!

    batch sparge

I'd say let it rest at least 10 minutes to let the grain be settle back down. I don't mix it up during the batch sparge. Just pour it in and let it settle for 10 minutes.

What's your cost of a 5 gallon batch?

I'd have to agree with the majority here. All grain can save you quite a bit as you buy your base malt in bulk, then just pick up the specialty malts and hops as needed. This saves a ton of money. For example, I just brewed Midwests Pumpkin ALe. I think the kit was around $27 or so. But when you...

    adding extracts at bottling question

I'd add the extract to bottling bucket or keg. Rememeber, there is no hard and fast rule when it comes to measurements of extracts as each extract brand will vary in strengh. No two are the same. What I do is pull one 8 oz sample and then add one drop at a time, tasting after each drop. Once I...

Giving up trying to get rid of foam!

Well, you'll never belive this. Went home last night and tried pouring a pint with 1/4" hose. This time....I opened tap ALL THE WAY and guess what? Perfect 1" inch head and no foam!! Still seems undercarbed to me, bu that may be because the beer finished at around 3.5% alcohol, so it may be the...

Any Homebrewers in need of losing fat?

Hi guys and gals. Please note, this is not a sales pitch, but more of a pole. While homebrewing is my hobby, I'm also a personal trainer with over 20 years in the industry. Long story short. I needed to drop a few, but refused to give up my brews. Well, after much trial and error, I finally...

Giving up trying to get rid of foam!

To be honest, I went to the hombrew store yesterday and was asked which size I needed. As I was unsure, the person said that 1/4" was the most common and held up a picnic tap and asked if mine looked like that. He then said, OK, then you need 1/4". Now I'm nor sure id thats the ID or outside...
