Said in jest, SWMBO not amused

I have something similar with this. My wife always has her phone on silent so she never answers it. I secretly changed her voicemail to say to call my number in the event that its important and my wife doesn't answer. But I always ask her, "why do I even pay for your phone" to which I get the...

I like this time at night on HBT

Visiting some family in Michigan this weekend. Dreading having to go back to Nebraska on Monday. Got to visit ThumbCoast brewery in Port Huron today and was very impressed. If you are ever up that way be sure to check it out.

I think I may switch back to Iodophor

I've never had a problem with staining. Once it is mixed I can use it on anything and it doesn't stain. Perhaps you are mixing a little strong?

I think I may switch back to Iodophor

Yeah I wouldn't really consider cost a factor as they aren't that different in price but I just started with iodophor and have been using it for forever so it just what I am used to. If someone is worried about getting their money's worth I would say stick with starsan as its more shelf stable...

I think I may switch back to Iodophor

I didn't so much switch back because of cost. Just that I was used to using it and get stuck in my ways. I usually only mix it about a quart at a time so I'm not worried about it.

I think I may switch back to Iodophor

I have stored iodophor for months before. Never had a problem. But it really just comes down to personal preference.

Safale 04 in a pumpkin ale?

Either the 04 or the 1098 would be good imo. S04 is cheaper so that's still what I would use.

I think I may switch back to Iodophor

I've used both. Started with iodophor and switch to star San for one bottle and went back to iodophor. It's more cost effective and when diliuted properly doesn't leave any off flavors. I dilute mine for no rinse in a 1 quart spray bottle. I find a ratio of 1.5 ml to 1 quart of water to be perfect.

Safale 04 in a pumpkin ale?

Either will work. In a pumpkit I would prefer 04 over 05.

    Juicing for wines

Sometimes, but I find that after fermentation the flavor completely changes. If you want it to really taste like the fruity you Will have to wait until fermentation completes and stabilize with potassium sorbate then add more fruit to bring the flavor.

    Juicing for wines

Yeah I always add campden about 24 hours before yeast.

    Juicing for wines

I put all of the frozen fruit into a paint strainer bag and let it thaw in the primary. Sometimes I will crush the thaw fruit a little with the bottom of a wine bottle but for the most part freezing breaks it down enough so I don't have to and the yeast will make plenty good work of the rest of it.

    Juicing for wines

I just chop mine up and freeze them. Then when they thaw they are mush. Add some campden in about 24 hour before pitching yeast an you should be fine.

    Pipe smoking, a lost art.

I have some sutliff taste of summer (peaches and cream) that I have taken one bowl of and didn't care for. I'm not a fan of the fruity stuff. If someone wants this you can just pay shipping and it's yours. I imagine $3 ought to ship it just about anywhere in the states. I think I got this tin...

I want to dry hop a 3 gallon batch

No I agree. I just tend to worry that maybe these posters are really just stupid, and while I don't want to encourage, I don't want to offend either. But I also lack the social skills to recognize sarcasm and the like so you probably see something that I am completely oblivious to. Cheers.

I want to dry hop a 3 gallon batch

Comments like these are kind of a double edge sword. On one side he might be a troll and it is good to call them out but if not then it I would consider it bad form to treat a new member like an idiot. Even if they really are.

I want to dry hop a 3 gallon batch

This is more a personal preference question but any hops that you dry hop with will not contribute to bitterness as that happens during the boil. It would pretty much only contribute to hop aroma. Cascade would be fine for this purpose as would many other varieties of hops.

    Hw.bout that?

I use busch light for this purpose. I just figure if I am going to drink BMC I want it to taste as close to water as possible.
