    Full Sail Wassail

Mead is kinda like heffeweisen. You either like it or you don't. I've had some decent heffe but I'm not a big fan. I've had some nastey mead. In either case I'll have a glass just to be polite, but if you're smart you won't ask me my opinion on it.

    Full Sail Wassail

Love the Oregon coast! Next time yo are coming thru Lakewood (Tacoma) I am only 2 miles off I-5. Let me know. This is one of my regular concoctions. It keeps getting better with each incarnation.

    Full Sail Wassail

I will have to send you a bottle of my Ancient Orange & Spice Mead. It's a spin off of JAO but I use coriander for the orange flavor. Makes an awesome wassail, especially warmed up. How close are you to Portland? I will be in Vancouver last week of the month. Happy to hook you up.

    Nice Buck

ROFLMFAO!!!! Dude! Thats an elk. A North American Wapati. It's what is known as a trophy. Male elk are called Bulls, females are cows. Elk are like Muslem Terrorists. They will surrond themselves with females to protect themselves from the enemy. Didn't work over there either.

    Portland, Or - Details Please

Damn you're good! 30 years is right on. Every city needs an ambassador. For many years I was an ambassador for Seattle. Still am to a great degree, but for all it's beauty and wonderful character the city is just way to liberal for my taste. As for the food, music, art, bikes, nature, or beer, I...

    What's Your Brewing Soundtrack?

Usually I listen to 104.5 KMCQ. A Classic Rock station out of Covington, a suburb of Seattle (60's, 70's & 80's), but I also have an account with Rhapsody so I can listen to any of my favorite artists or a mix. Right now I am listening to Gaelic Storm, a California based celtic group. They did...

    Portland, Or - Details Please

Hey! It's all good. There are some cool things about Portland. Heart was from there, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts. The Organ Grinder was cool, until they closed it down. Roses was awesome, until they closed it down. I am sure that Octoberfest is still a great party...

    Nice Buck

This one was laying down just like yours about 100 yards away (2006): This one was on the run at 250 yards (2009): This one was in the middle of a half dozen cows at 300 yards (2007):

CHRISTMAS WISHLIST - Post it Here and Pray it Comes True!

Blues skills come from heartache, brother. Wait until your third divorce, they repo your truck and someone runs over your dog. Oh wait...that's country. Never mind.

    Portland, Or - Details Please

I went to High School in Vancouver, WA just across the river from Portland. Spent a lot of time hanging out in the Rose City as a kid. Go back every once in a while to visit old friends and family who still live in the area. My advice as too where to stay in Portland is...far away.

    Lost another friend this week

First, my condolences on your loss. I lost my dad this last March to lung cancer. He started smoking in the Navy in the 50's and even though he managed to quit about ten years ago the damage was done. I think we got five more years with him because he quit which turned out to be the best five...

    Buying Bulk Honey

This won't help you much unless you don't mind paying shipping cost, but my local supplier gives me a break at 5 gallons to $1.75/lb. Great for me since I make batches big enough for that. :rockin: Shipping would bring the cost for you back up to $2.50-3.00/lb. I, too, have considered...

Going commercial and looking for advice

You are right. Most of my 5 gal batches to date have been pretty awesome (so I'm told). I want to get my math right before I start to sell so I intend to run a few 50 gal batches.

Going commercial and looking for advice

I am in the process of getting licensed to sell the wine and mead I make. I am currently making all my stuff in 5 - 6 gallon batches. I picked up a couple of 55 gallon drums from my local beer/wine supplier the other day to use as primaries so I can run a batch of wine and a batch of mead at the...

    Brewery names--what's your story?

I thought about many names for a winery years before I ever started making wine. Given my many years of miitary service I always thought I'd go with a miltary theme, but that's not how it worked out. When I finally started making my own wine a few years ago it was in our new house, which my...

My friend was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday.

I did a tour in Iraq in '05. My unit came home intact, but I have had several other guys I know from other units not be so fortunate. It is a great honor to die in the service of ones country. Still, that is little comfort to a spouse or child or parent. My condolences to you and his family...
