HELP! Ran out of propane 40 minutes into boil

This. Our local truck stop fills up my propane tanks, and you only pay for what they put in. The pump is right there so I can watch how much they're putting in. I always feel better getting it from there rather than the flat-price places.

    Grain Milling Question

If you're unsure of what to buy, you could also consider having the grains milled by whoever you're buying them from. Most places don't charge extra. That way you can still get going on the all-grain, but have more time to research mills and figure out exactly what you want to get.

Living nightmare on cursed brew day

OP... I'm very sorry about your horrible brew day, but the descriptions and images DO make for excellent entertainment. And that's so funny I need to pass it on. Saved to the sig.

All 3 of the glasses I've had tonight have been great. I better have another, just be sure. :mug:

    Janet's Brown (Brewing Classic Styles)

Had to necro this thread because I finally got Janet's Brown Ale on tap (had no room in the fridge) and let me tell you... this is a fabulous beer. Big Fan!

    beginner hop varieties?

Go with whatever variety is most prevalent in the types of beers that you'll want to brew. No sense growing something that you'll never want to use in your own beer. Take a look through some recipes that you think you're going to brew, figure out what varieties they call for, and see if you...

I like #3, but I wonder if you'll be able to make out the image in the middle if it's shrunk down for a bottle, etc.

    Where's American craft brewing heading?

Took the words right out of my mouth. Which is a good thing, because now there's more room for beer. ;)

    "Cereal Killer" grain mill

Just a heads-up to anyone considering the Cereal Killer... it's currently on sale for $79.99 during their CY-Beer Monday sale. No more free shipping, but it still comes out to be less than the $99.99 than it was a few days ago.

    Homebrewtalk Carboy Cleaner Giveaway

I have a friend that thinks these cleaners won't work very well. Let me win, and I'll prove him wrong! Mad jealousy will ensue, and you'll reap the profits.

    First tine using carboy... Ahhh

At this point, you've got such a vigorous fermentation that it's constantly blowing OUT the airlock, so there's not much chance of bacteria working it's way back in (against the flow) through the airlock. You'll be OK with a blowoff until the activity calms down a bit, at which point you can put...

    Safale US-04 questions

I rehydrate mine. I know it's probably not necessary, but it's easy and I have good results when doing it so I might as well keep doing it.

    Safale US-04 questions

I used it in my cream stout last week and my results were similar to the linked article above. Rig up a blowoff.

What beer do you still buy?

There's usually some Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald in the fridge, as well as whatever their seasonal is (Nosferatu, Christmas Ale). They're doing some great things over there, for sure.

Something for my wife after the baby is born...

Per the De Ranke website... XX Bitter or Extra Extra Bitter is a blond, bitter ale containing 6.2% vol. Alc. It’s famous for it’s very bitter and strong flavour. XX is being made with pale pilsner malt and loads of Brewers Gold and Hallertau hop flowers. A perfect combination that has been...

Anyone else here brew the 'Black Widow Porter' from Brewing Classic Styles (Zainasheff/Palmer)? I think I might have found a new house beer. I love this stuff! :mug:
