3-week old crushed grains!! Are they good?

I have some grains that I had crushed about 3-4weeks ago. They have been sitting around in a brown paper bag (what my LHBS puts everything in). Do you think they are OK?

    Seasonal Saison Anyone??

Anyone have seasonal Saison Recipes?? I have been trying to follow the idea that a Saison is a farmhouse ale and that it should change with each season.. Spring= somewhat sweater and malty (Munich/Vienna & Crystal) Summer= crisp and light (Pilsner, Lemon & Spice) Fall= amber and fuller...

How Many Batches Before You Made A Dumper

I have been brewing about 3yrs now and just brewed a batch within the last couple of months that needed to be dumped. I hated to do it, but there was no way I was going to drink 5gal of this swill. It was not infected or anything crazy, but rather it was just a bad combination that was not...

How Much Rye Is 2 Much Rye??

OK.. So I am taking it that I should expect the same level of "cloudiness" that I would see with a regular heffe?

How Much Rye Is 2 Much Rye??

What should I expect if I used about 40% of my grain bill as Rye Malt? Would this impart more sediment in the beer due to the amount of proteins in the Rye Malt?

To those who have done double brew days

I agree with others that starting the mash about 20-30 minutes before the boil ends should give you enough time. Another thought is doing an AG and a Extract. You can start the extract about 30 minutes after you AG is boiling. You can do it on a stovetop, I have done this several times when I...

Brewing Solo vs. Brewing with a partner(s)

I have a buddy that I used to brew with and share equipment with. As a result of a recent move this is not really a possibility for a regular brewing schedule, and therefore we now each have our own systems. Got to say we both like the freedom of not having to stress about the shared...

    Where to store CO2 Tank??

I am new to kegging and I am currently storing my 5#CO2 tank in my Keezer. The temp is about 42*, does this make any difference in the ability (length of time) to carb your beer?? Does storing the tank in the keezer have any negative impacts (outside of the loss of space)?

    Keg Post Question

    Keg Post Question

I just got 4 kegs from midwest, and they all have different posts (all ball lock though). I wanted to have them all with the same post (either Corny "A" or "B" {I seem to have both}). I would like to standardize on one if I can.. If not I need to order some more parts for spares.. If I am...

    Bottles from Kegs Newb Question

OK.. So I have been bottling for about 3yrs now and I am moving to Kegs.. I still want to bottle some beer, but I have noticed that some of my Brew Pals beers from kegs are flat. Can I add a little corn sugar to the bottles when I bottle some beer from kegs to help with the carbing? This...
