Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

That was a ploy for them to gain access to distribution but they claimed to have maintained 100% creative rights on what they produce. That being said they are easy go to beers and I like their bottles (they fit on the bottom shelf of my fridge. Not the best beer, but OK. --- I attempted a...

Batch #1 in the pint glass!

After 5 long weeks I popped open batch #1, a pale ale kit from the LHBS. Its quite nice. It could afford another week or so to carb out so I'll be patient on the rest. It also has no head at all. None! I'll work on that in the future. I thought I had screwed it all up but I'm glad...

My stir plate works but throws the bar

I've put together a stir plate but if I turn it up too fast it throws the bar. I used a 3/4" of PVC as a standoff for the magnets and then glued the magnets to the top of that. I think my stir bar is 1 1/2" or so. Do I need to get a smaller stir bar so it will bit in between the magnets? Do...

    Taking gravity readings...

I've been taking my samples from the spigot at the bottom and all 4 of mine seemed to have stalled about .010 higher then they should have. Could it be because I'm getting some of the trub when I pull a sample?

    What size freezer for fermenation

    Same question I had!

    Split fridge into a fermetor/kegorator?

Has anybody converted a side by side fridge into half fermenting chamber and half kegorator? Seems it might be possible. A couple kegs could stand on end in the freezer and the fridge side of the business could be the fermentor holding a few buckets of beer. I guess it'd require two...

    One Meat Forever...

Fish. I'd flat out die without the fish. In full disclosure though i gave up 4 legged animals just over 3 years ago after suffering the worlds nastiest case of food poisoning from a pork sausage.

    Temperature Variations/spikes during fermenting

I've only done a handful of batches but I've not found a great way to regulate temperature. At first my garage was staying very cool but we had several hot days last week and that killed it. I've got 2 still fermenting, a Russian Imperial Stout and a Pale Ale. For the most part they have...

Good Beer or Breweries Around Long Beach?

*edit* just read a pile of yelp reviews for Rock Bottom. Seems they were bought be a conglomerate of some sort and have taken a turn for the worst. What a shame.

    What's your favorite Micro brewery.

Dogfish Head (are they still small enough) Port & The Lost Abby And for whatever reason Im starting to become quite fond of Kona. The one I can't figure out yet is Stone. Seems I should like them but I've been unable to.

Good Beer or Breweries Around Long Beach?

I'm a bit late to the show but just went to Congregation Ale House in Long Beach. Good selection and good food too. The way you order is odd. You mainly order from a register at the bar then they give you a number on a stick. I wasn't a fan of that part. As of TUESDAY there is a Beachwood...

Secondaries, dry hopping and reaching Final Gravity

I've got my second batch, an IPA that seems to have stalled a bit. I dry hopped it after one week, and now I'm at week two and think it'd be good to let it sit a bit longer to let it ferment. So here are my questions: Should I just leave it in the primary? Or should I transfer it into...

    Sanitizing Bottles

In "How To Brew" he mentions running bottles through the dishwasher without soap. I did this yesterday, I'm hoping it worked. Also the bottles weren't 100% dry when I bottled. I hope they work out!
