    Hot temps while bottle conditioning

I completely agree with you. I remember tasting my first batch not too long ago. I popped one at 1-week. A few bubbles, and tasted awful. 2-weeks popped another with a few more bubbles, but still didn't taste great. At 3-weeks, the carbonation was about done, but the beer wasn't conditioned yet...

    FT. 2012 Dark Lord

Firestone Walker: 2011 Parabola, 2012 Parabola, 2012 Sucaba (Abacus), XV Anniversary Avery: Mephistopheles' Stout, Uncle Jacob's Stout, Dihos Dactylion American Wild Ale, Muscat d'Amour American Wild Ale Stone: 10th Anniversary Ruination. I'd be happy to give you several of these, or one as...

    Hot temps while bottle conditioning

What strain of yeast did you use to ferment the wort? How long did the beer remain in the primary fermenter? Did you rack from the primary into a bottling bucket (or similar), or did it spend time in secondary? I would automatically store all the beer in your basement, as it's a friendlier...

    recipe

Are you wanting to use them up all at once? Any other non-grain ingredients you're also trying to use up, such as certain yeast strains or leftover hops?

Best deal on a immersion wort chiller?

Same here. I ended up getting the 50-foot stainless steel IWC. Thought it'd hold up a little better and be easier to maintain, compared to copper. I went with the 50-foot size, as I plan on stepping up to 10-gallon batches at some point. I simply added worm clamps onto all the tubing to avoid...

    Took a brewery job!

Congratulations! I'm also curious who your new employer is and what your initial position will be, being in Denver myself?

    Graham's English Cider

I plan on making this next brew day, if not before, as I have a package of S-04 in the fridge, wanting to be used for something. It'll give me a good excuse to use one of three new 5-gallon carboys as well.

First time fermentation chamber brew and using a large blow off tube

Try spraying around the blowoff tube with Starsan or something similar. If it begins actively bubbling, that's where your leak (or one of your leaks) is located. How exactly do you have the blowoff tube connected to the bucket lid? Is it clamped on? Is it stuffed into a hole in the lid? Now...

Jumping to Kegging, which Kegs to buy.

Our local Costco has a 7.1 Haier regularly priced at $174.99. Home Depot still has the 7.0 GE on sale right now for $178.00 online, then you could get free shipping too. Or they may have the same model in your local store?

    Honey Blonde Ale

I would also be curious to not only see the recipe, but to hear your personal critique of the finished product.

Jumping to Kegging, which Kegs to buy.

Susbcribed. I'm getting ready to start kegging myself, so i am on the lookout for these types of threads. From the limited research I've done, I'll be going with used kegs, and getting at least 3-to start with. I think it was good to bottle my first couple of batches to gain the experience, but...

Im new to brewing and im addicted

Welcome! I'm in the same boat as you. I began brewing a few months ago, and have brewed 3-batches. My first batch was an extract and steeping grains kit. I followed that up with a BIAB Blonde Ale for my 2nd batch. If you're wanting to go beyond extract, but are not ready to commit to the extra...

    Robs Black Cherry wheat

Glad to hear that it's come around for you! Hopefully you have enough left to enjoy for a bit while it's drinking well. Thanks for the update on this.

Never have an issue with aggressive fermentation/blow off. Is this normal?

Haha, good stuff! Thanks for the laugh. Did it start to rumble and sound like a volcano was about to erupt? :)

Never have an issue with aggressive fermentation/blow off. Is this normal?

I've just started brewing, but am of the same opinion. Especially since I don't yet have a fermentation chamber. The three batches I've brewed so far have ranged in volume from 4.8-5.5 gallons, all in a 6.5-gallon Better Bottle. My first batch of beer was just fine, but it was an extract kit...

Can I pitch more yeast after 2 weeks of fermentation

Has the gravity been at 1.030 for 3-days straight, or was that just the last measurement you took? Are you fermenting near the bottom threshold of the yeast? What about possibly raising the temperature slightly?

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

+1 on using yeast nutrient for a healthy and pleasant smelling fermentation. After directly pitching the Safale US-05, fermentation started overnight a few days ago, and has been going well since then, all with no sulfur or other off smells. I used Fermcap in the boil, but the krausen still...

    2nd Homebrew, 1st All-Grain & BIAB, My Take on Biermuncher's Orange Kolsch

I definitely see your point regarding the yeast strain. I used the Wyeast Kolsch II 2575 for this batch. With that being said, I don't feel like enough of the other parameters were met to categorically label it a Kolsch, such as OG and ABV. Almost everything about it fits into the broader...

    2nd Homebrew, 1st All-Grain & BIAB, My Take on Biermuncher's Orange Kolsch

After it's all said and done, I think I'm now going to call this a Blonde Ale, rather than a Kolsch, as it fits into the blonde ale guidelines better than it does the Kolsch guidelines. Wherever it fits, I'm anxiously awaiting the results and am looking forward to cracking open the first one in...
