My new set up..need a little advice!!

Hope you have some legs for that burner. :) Do you have the TopTier stand to go with it? The kettle looks pretty good, enjoy brewing in it.

It is sold; I bought it from Kevin.

    Maintaining Siphon w/ Venturi

How large is the hole and what is your flow-rate? The hole shouldn't be too big I created one in a piece of old racking cane with a hot paper clip. Mine is near the end of the siphon tube and it works really well!

    TopTier water filter mount

First off, I want to give credit to the following thread on HBT. I used this as a base to put together my filter. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/water-filter-setup-29145/ There wasn’t a water filter bracket that I could buy commercially or model to fit the TopTier stand. So, my...

Need Help/Advice Assembling My Top Tier Stand

I have the TopTier as well and when I emailed Blichmann, I received a prompt and very helpful response... When my initial regulator was bad, they sent me another one right away. I would say there support is great as they have answered a few questions (over multiple emails) about my stand's...

Blichmann Top Tier just arrived in my mail!

I've been very pleased with mine. I'm two brews into it and couldn't be happier. It took a little bit to get the tiers positioned the way that worked best for me. As the Captain said, those burners are nothing shy of awesome and quiet. No more yelling over the jet burners... :) ruffdeezy...

    Carboy Level/Calibration Sticker Prototype

I like the bottom one as well.

    Top Tier questions

I really like mine, even though I've only brewed on it once. The burners are crazy powerful and the stand is rock solid! I also like the convenience of being 'mobile' in the case of sudden rain / snow (as I normally brew in the driveway). It doesn't take up too much floor space either (~ 4' x...

    Top Tier questions

Do you have any pics of how your chiller is mounted to the tier? I guess you're using a plate chiller? I have a counterflow (home-built) and I'm trying to figure a way of integrating it into my TopTier.

How has your Brewery grown in 2010

In 2010 I added a few new toys to the mix new 'Great Beers' book bought a 2 tap jockey box and modified it to connect to corny and sanke kegs acquired a 10 pound co2 tank additional regulator new mash tun thermometer upgraded to a 10 gallon mash tun picked up a dedicated HLT vs. using...

Igloo 5 gallon max cold lid

I have that cooler, but I do not use it for a mash tun. I can say that it does hold ice longer than anyone I've ever owned. I don't think it will hold it for 5 days... maybe 3 days in the shade and with the lid kept closed... It is a nice cooler and should be fine for a mash tun.

whoops, my yeast cells may be dead!

I did taste it and it didn't taste like it did when it was put in the bucket. It was bitter and a little hoppy (but it is an IPA) and had a wang kinda to it. I guess there isn't a real way to tell if it's infected, is it? I do have some dry yeast at home, but was going to run by the LHBS...

whoops, my yeast cells may be dead!

So, I brewed an AG on Friday. I bought my recipe from AHS and they shipped my stuff to me pretty quick. It was shipped out last Monday. I did decide to get the 'cold' pack thrown in with my yeast to keep them fresh. Maybe I was dreaming, but I figured they'd put it in a little dry ice...

Buying a new rig for AG

so, i'm assuming you'd circulate your total boil volume for the entire mash time? then after time is up drain what's left in the tun to the boil kettle?

    Difference between first wort/first runnings

sorry to hijack, but which efficiency is BeerSmith's 'Brewhouse Efficiency' referring to? i've been taking a gravity reading after i sparged and collected my boil volume to determine my efficency %.

gas / beverage disconnect and post question

ball lock, sorry. ;) i have ruined one beverage disconnect (it was on the beverage post [i thought]). however, thanks to the previous owner of the keg i determined i have two 'gas' posts... lucky me. in the past week, i've been through two co2 tanks so i am assuming there's a leak on the...

gas / beverage disconnect and post question

is there a difference (other than color of the disconnects and the groove in the posts)?

1st AG batch a total nightmare!

congrats on making the AG jump. i hopped in two batches ago. i can relate to the stuck chiller. it sucks when that happens... to help prevent this on my last batch, i decided (basically at the last minute) to design this very complex Hop Suspension System :cross: out of a coat-hanger...

AG batch number two in the carboy

So, I was a little late updating my blog to reflect my second AG day. It was, for the most part, a success. There wasn't any issues to speak of. It was a very busy day at the brewery as I brewed this stout, kegged the ESB, and upgraded my kegerator (fridge) to hold two kegs. Unlike the...
