Limiting oxidation: effect of purging headspace O2 in a bottle conditioned IPA

I did some testing too: The left one has Co2 bursted to empty bottle and before capping. The right one is capped without bursting Co2 at all. So the color is the same. But I can taste the difference for shure. With Co2 bursted the taste is brighter, cleaner and less sweet. The hops are more...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Idea for small batch brewer's to take SG measurements without oxidation. Do a "side batch" from the same wort so that you can make fg measurements from there without oxidizing the main batch. And you get some more beer (and you can compare how much the oxidation effects the final beer). I...

Is exposure to all light bad for beer in fermention.

Maybe. I'm thinking that I could just stream from my old phone, but operating light would be harder.

Is exposure to all light bad for beer in fermention.

I'm away from home so much so that's why I was thinking about watching remotely. Like a beer live stream :). When I'm home I can of course just take a look to the closet.

Is exposure to all light bad for beer in fermention.

Because I want to see inside👁. Not just the airlock.

Is exposure to all light bad for beer in fermention.

Basicly I would like to watch my beer in the glass fermenter remotely, and I could easily do it if the fermentor could be in room light. But it has to be in the dark right? So I wonder is there a type of light that I could install in my closet that wouldn't spoil the beer in the fermenter? For...

First wort hop addition, what hop to use?

Hi. If I want to try first wort hop addition, what hop should I use? Normally I use Magnum for bittering. Should I use that or is the whole point of firs wort to use more flavored hops, maybe Citra or Cascade or Mosaic? Any ideas or wisdom to share?

This is what I hoped. I didn´t spoil my beer. And yes, I´ll leave the slurry to the bottle. Thanks

Got some slurry from the fermenter to bottles. Problem?

Hi I bottled yesterday, and after I had the half of the beers bottled, I accidentally knocked the autosiphon so that the slurry from the bottom got little mixed to the beer in fermenter. So the rest of the bottles have now more matte-color beer while the first bottles have clear beer. Does the...

So heres a closer to this topic. I turned few bottles up and down few times for few days and stored them in the warmest room in the house for a week. I put the bottles to fridge for 3 days. I opened the bottles carefully. Not much carbonation. Good foam. Wery wery sweet. So my best quess is...

    Risk of bottlwboms?

    1. Yes. I siphon the beer from the fermenter to kettle and mix the priming sugars there. Then siphon to bottles. Why? Because I can... And the kettle is always clean. Is there something wrong with this method? 2. Of course not after fermentation. 3. 3.5 litres 4. The kettle has a measurement...

    Risk of bottlwboms?

Thanks guys. I'm luring mutch. I'm thinking if the brew was done in too high temp and therefore the wort had much unfermentable sugars. So thats at least one possible factor that could have made it so sweet. ... But I don't remember that the sample before priming sugars would have been too...

    Risk of bottlwboms?

I have never heard about this factor that you need to chill the beer for longer time that it takes for to get te temperature right. Interesting. But shouldn't there be Co2 even in room temp bottle. Intrested about more info about this topic. I store the bottles in room temp (20°C). I chilled...

    Risk of bottlwboms?

So I have waited 2 weeks now. Opened one. There was not much carbonation. I wonder why? It been in room temperature the whole 2 weeks. The taste was wery sweet. Like a sweet barleywine. Maybe I should let this batch age some...?
