We just got an OKish rain last evening and more over night. (I woke this morning to the roof dripping into the flower garden and the valley noticeably greener.) Here's to praying for rain for you! I'm in the village of Eagle Nest. Our nearest village is Angel Fire (about ten miles away) and...

What are you listening to (music!!!) right now? Embarrassing or not... share

My wife usually listens to New Country. This quiet Saturday morning she asked me to play some of my "ancient piano music". I have on the turntable a Clarence "Pinetop" Smith album featuring "Jelly Roll" Morton. (It's a release from 1950, long after Jelly Roll's death, but is a goodsounding...

I'm a Westerner also. I remember Bob's Big Boy with the big plastic statues outside. They had a wonderful double thick Chocolate shake served in a TALL stainless container.

What came in the mail for you today?

Thank you for that info. If ALL rubberized tubing allows gas to pass (lol... sorry...) is silicon worse than other materials? I'm asking because I have always liked silicone and used it for not shedding plasticisers, and it's ability to last and last.

What came in the mail for you today?

Why is silicone so bad for preventing oxygenation?

    3 way liquid splitter?

Use water first to find the 4 gallon mark in each keg. Then scribe the 4 gallon mark in each. Voila!

What book is on your nightstand? Readers!

I re-read Stranger in a Strange Land a bit back. I loved it as a late teen when I was in the Army the first time. Now, a few decades later it's even better. I'm currently reading the Craig Johnson series about Sheriff Walt Longmire. I love it. It's set in Wyoming which is my second...

How do they make 13.5% abv wine ?

Commercial wines use grapes that ferment to that level, though you'll never see wine grape juice in a market. They taste fairly nasty... wine grapes are nada like table grapes. Home made wine that strength is made from grape juice and sugar.

    Filling propane tanks

Ok. I ran a line from my house (not an additional line from the tank) to my deck and to my garage. It was a short and easy project that took maybe two hours. I'm an artist and a jeweler... if I can do it anyone can. I think it cost me less than 30$.

    Filling propane tanks

Why not just plum in a gas outlet in yer garage, patio, shed, or wherever you brew? The village I live in is propane only, no natural gas here. Adding a connection is so easy.

    stuck ferment

If ya mixed 25# sugar with ten gallons of water you should have a wash of 12 gallons that will ferment out dry to roughly 14 and a half % abv. If ya mixed 25# sugar TO MAKE a ten gallon wash ya used a wee bit more than eight gallons of water, for a ten gallon wash that will ferment out to...

How do you transport your refilled/full CO2 tank w/o a truck?

I just strap a few on each side of my bike, and zip on home. No-one tailgates, and I always get the right-of-way! (J/K... I live in the US now and don't want someone to kill me for a little reckless fun.) Though, it's not as impressive as a 55 gallon drum filled with something, strapped to...

damn it!!! my hose is frozen!

So... Didja ever get yer hose thawed out, and (more importantly) did ya clean up after yer last brew?

damn it!!! my hose is frozen!

Damn, 260$ !?! I can count on six to seven months of snow and ice a year and I'd never spend that on a hose. I roll my hose up after use in the winter. It's always ready to go. And how the hell can ya brew and not clean up immediately? LOL. It boggles my mind.

This is Queen Victoria. She was born under a neighbors shed. She was no where close to being weened when I got her. Luckily I was self employed back then and just put everything on hold and cared for her and did hobbies for about two weeks. She is roughly 18 years old now. Still very spy...
