    Ssr

Are you sure you had a good tight connection? Or used the right size of wire? That is the only thing that I can think of that would do that (melt). And did you use a good heat sink grease? That would insure that the heat can dissipate from the ssr to the heat sink.

    Ssr

    1. Radio Shack maybe, if you order from digikey you should have it by next weekend. 2. As long as you didn't exceed the amp rating you should be fine. You may want to install a fan to circulate air around your heat sink if you don't have one.

    Hesting Element questions

Most of your circuits should be at least 15 amps. As long as you use a 1500W element you should be safe, I just wouldn't use any other high amperage appliances (like a microwave) at the same time since you don't know your circuits.

    Rusty weld fix?

I only done this to my mlt so far. I will try what you said tonight on my BK. I am doing a batch tomorrow so I will have to fix my HLT next week and besides that one is going to be a pain (it has my HERMS coil in it and I'll have to take it out). Thanks for the reply.

    Rusty weld fix?

While upgrading my setup I decided to have all of my couplings welded on my keggles. I took them to an actual weld shop thinking they was professional, big mistake! I got them back the outside looked good but the inside looked terrible. I tried to clean them the best I could, a week latter and...

    stupid ssr question

I had 240V hooked on to this. And my volt meter kept reading 240V on the load side of my ssr. I changed out the ssr and the same thing. So I was sure the ssr was good and the wiring couldn't of be any simpler, I figured it had to have a load to switch right, I couldn't think of anything else it...

    stupid ssr question

Thanks... Now I can sleep tonight instead thinking what the heck I did wrong. I should have everything for a live test tomorrow and then I can hook this up to my element.

    stupid ssr question

I finally started to put my control box together today (almost done!). And I decided to check every thing out. Every thing is good, but my ssr (when checking with my multimeter) is always on. Even when nothing is hooked up on the inputs. I pulled the ssr and put another one in, and the same...

    heat sink question

Thanks this helps. My control box isn't going to be crowded at all. I will just wait and see how hot it gets inside when I run my first test.

    heat sink question

I have a nice big heatsink, I just wasn't sure about stuffing it in a closed box without any air flow. I'm sure if I had it on the outside it would be fine. What size element are you driving with your ssr? Squeeky: Good idea but mine isn't made of metal, the material I'm using would insulate...
