    Grain Mills..... Best one, Why?

I'm happy with my Barley Crusher. It works well for my BIAB. I use a drill and since I do 5gal or less batches I can always double crush if need be. Blow it out with my compressor when it's done and clean as a whistle. Works for me.

Brew Bucket owners - What Mini Fridge are you using ?

I ordered the Magic Chef from Home Depot. It'll hold my 7 gallon SS Brewtech brew bucket when I'm doing larger batches, or I can get my SS mini brew bucket and a Mr Beer fermenter in there at same time. Works great. Mine is 4.4 cubic feet freezerless and I use an inkbird for temp control. It's...

FERMENTATION HEATER ON MY BREW BUCKET

My mini fridge is in my garage and has worked great since I got it in the spring along with my inkbird. However, I didn't know how well it would work in fall and winter temps, and as it started getting colder the temps in my fermenter were dipping too low for ales, and I was getting concerned...

    Vacuum Sealer

I too have the foodsaver, and it's still chugging along after 6-7 years of use. I use it a lot for my grain storage.

    Anyone using induction cooktop?

Pulled the trigger on the Avantco 3500w induction cooktop and ordered the ratchet pulley assembly from Brewinabag. I think those along with the new grain mill will be a big help to my BIAB.

    Anyone using induction cooktop?

I'd like to move my BIAB from the gas range in the kitchen into the garage when I'm brewing 5+ gallon batches. Been looking at 3500w induction cooktop as I already have the circuit there for my table saw. Plus I could mount a pulley to drain the bag. It would be a lot less than having to...

What brand BIAB bag do you use?

I use the Brew Bag. I haven't tried any others but its very sturdy and works great.

    New Anvil Bucket Fermentors

It's what I do as well. Both my Brewtech brew buckets have a short 1/2 inch barbed elbow on the lid and I run a hose into a jar of water or star San and let them happily bubble away.

    New Anvil Bucket Fermentors

They look nice and should get the job done! I've got similar size fermenters from SS Brewtech and really like them for their features and ease of use. These are certainly at a much better price point than what I paid for my mini bucket, 3.5 gal, and my 7 gal brew bucket. I have kettles from...

Advice on how to move on from Mr Beer

I have Mr Beer LBKs and still use them and though mostly have moved to slightly larger batches and ss fermenters, you have plenty of options with that 2 gallon pot. Since many recipes are based on 5 gal, you can cut them in half and for most recipes that are say OG 1.064 and under you can do...

    What's your MASH conversion effeciency

Lol, I thought that the Brewers Friend calculator was measuring my mash efficiency. I entered my batch size, my OG before pitching and each of my grains. To me that would seem to be the key number of interest. I understand I'll lose some due to grain absorption, a small amount in the kettle, and...

    What's your MASH conversion effeciency

I've just done a couple BIAB batches and my numbers have been low according to the calculator I just used at Brewers Friend. 62.24% I used Qbrew software to input my recipe and expected OG was 1.060 and I got 1.048. I just got a grain mill and have not tightened the gap yet. I didn't put a gauge...

    Vorlauf and BIAB?

To me cold crashing is important. My fermenters are in a mini fridge so I just drop the temp setting on my inkbird to 36F for 3-4 days before bottling. I bottle condition for 3 weeks and then put what I'm going to drink for the next couple of days for 3 days to let the CO2 liquid into the beer...

    Sack squeezing and haze

I've had good luck with this bag, and usually drip/sprinkle sparge and squeeze. https://www.brewinabag.com/products/the-brew-bag-for-kettles
