I usually brew bigger (abv) 5 gal (7 gal preboil) batches in a igloo ice cube MT. I figure the thermapen gets almost 40% into the depth of the mash - that is close enough to half- way. I check temps in several areas of the mash and often find a 1-2 deg difference towards the end of the mash...

Is this the plastic 1/2" model? If so, the same thing happened to mine - I just cut the cane off right before the bend/brake and hook my tubing up to that - it works fine. jason

What about something like this. I have one and it works great. I am in the process of mounting a pump within the main section. While there is no space to hold the kettles and MT, I find that those are easily stashed elsewhere. I also have a place scoped out to mount the in-near-future RIMS...

Does anybody have the 3/4" size yet? I want to replace the standard seal with a silicone O-ring but am not sure what size to get. Proflow says they are not planning on carrying the"food safe" seals in anything but the 1/2" size. they said if would cost them $7.50 for the 3/4" -wow! Any ideas...
