One positive to my home brewing for SWMBO is spent grain dog treats for our beloved four legged... However they seem to have adverse affects... The younger dog has awful gas (It actually sounds like he’s yodeling on the couch) The older girl is a little worse with lets say it’s just the...

    Yeast starter life

Thanks! Question- Warm, decant, pitch? I usually pull from fridge and decant, then let it warm before pitching.... Should I let it warm then decant?

Illinois Looking for other homebrewers in Chicago

Thanks, yeah I’m open to doing that. Midnight carboys meeting is a little closer, but I really value a meeting at my LHBS. Does BABBLE do a beer share at Perfect brewing? I would love feedback on how I can improve my cider and beer.

    New kettle and chiller cleaning?

I have a brand new kettle and wort chiller that I plan to brew on tomorrow evening. What type of cleaning will be required prior to their maiden voyage? Dish soap and scrubbing to clean manufacturing oils? Thanks all in advance!

The most expensive way to Homebrew

System looks awesome! Can’t wait to see it in operation! Who’s controls are you using? I don’t recognize the red brick PLC. Red lion maybe?

What did I cook this weekend.....

@paulthenurse We followed this recipe first http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/katie-lee/cauliflower-pizza-crust-2651381 It was very good but a pain to make. We made another version last night (& more BLT pizza!! Couldn’t let the bag of chopped iceberg go to waste!) Much easier 1 10oz bag...

Illinois Looking for other homebrewers in Chicago

I actually think it was from a BABBLE sign I saw at Perfect brewing supply.? Might have been something from your website? (But really don’t think that is the case..?) I started brewing about 6 months ago and searched out clubs shortly after. It was between BABBLE, NUBS and Midnight Carboys in...

Illinois Looking for other homebrewers in Chicago

It was my understanding that BABBLE doesn’t accept newer brewers? Am I incorrect?

A tale of first two BIABs. What do you use for bags?

I’m 1 whole brew day in on my mash in a bag from https://www.brewinabag.com/?aff=3 It was awesome! I was able to hoist the grain bag without a problem. (Granted it was a small batch) but... It’s fairly inexpensive, never going to have a stuck sparge, plus easy to clean & BH efficiency was 78%...

What came in the mail for you today?

Awesome! Please post your electric 3 vessel project on HBT. I thought about going in the electric direction, I’m just not certain we will be in this house for more than a couple years & can’t justify the cost of running 220 up to my garage or exhausting air out of my basement. 5 years from...

What came in the mail for you today?

Following feedback from experts here, I went all in! “Buy once and cry once” right? [emoji51] Went from stove top & 5 gallon kettle to 15 gallon mega pot and Edelmetall burner with leg extensions. (Can’t complain got a great deal on the whole package) I brewed my first all grain “MIAB” 2 weeks...

    New chiller

Yeah 3/8” by 50’ it was $55 & won’t arrive till the 5th, but still a great value! I’d spend that much in copper for a DIY project.

    New chiller

I just ordered one. I was going to do a copper diy but price is too good to pass up! This is the last item needed to complete my all grain setup!
