1.050 OG Blonde Ale - How long in primary?

Don't know if I can get an answer at this late date but I guess I'll try.... As I find myself in a similar situation as the user who started this thread... My question is - If I leave my beer in the primary for 3 weeks is there any benefit to doing like a week of cold conditioning in a...

First Brew 2nd opinion - am I fermenting ok.

So thinking of this just gave me another question. If my bucket isn't sealed correctly; should I be concerned that the beer will get contaminated? If there is a leak letting CO2 out, is it also letting bad stuff in?

First Brew 2nd opinion - am I fermenting ok.

Thanks guys. I kind of figured things were ok so I wan't totally freaking out. But having confirmation from those more experienced than myself, DOES make me feel better. Now I feel like I can just leave it alone (what I should have done anyway) and start planning my next batch while I wait for...

First Brew 2nd opinion - am I fermenting ok.

The yeast is WYEAST 1056. I did do a starter, but it was my first one, and I did it a bit early so I was a little nervous about that as well. The other thing is that I think might be slowing it down is that the temp in the room where the fermenter is. WYeast says the range for this yeast is...

First Brew 2nd opinion - am I fermenting ok.

Long story short I did my first brew on Saturday. So I'm coming up on 72 hrs and not seeing anything out of the airlock. So I took a quick peak under the lid to see what there was to see and rather than sticking my face up to it I snapped a quick pic. Based on this I think I'm fine but...

    First batch- fermenting question

    First batch- fermenting question

So I checked the temp in the room where the fermenter is sitting - It's about 61 in there and at night it might be falling a few degrees below that. Should I move to some place a little warmer? I know I know RDWHAHB. But....... The yeast is WYEAST 1056 which supposedly has a optimum range...

    First batch- fermenting question

I brewed my first batch yesterday. Now it's been in the fermenter over 24 hours. I'm not seeing it actively bubbling per se, but there are little tiny bubbles on the side of the air lock. I not panicking really or anything but I'm just curious if the little bubbles on the side of airlock...

How would I know if my yeast starter is bad?

It was just a thoguht, not sure there is a good reason necessarily - was an idea and thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks though!

How would I know if my yeast starter is bad?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

How would I know if my yeast starter is bad?

It is in the fridge. I am planning on brewing early tomorrow so I was going to take it out when I start brewing to let it warm. From there my plan was that once I got through the boil and had the wort cooled off I would decant about 2/3 or so of the beer that's in the starter jar and replace it...

How would I know if my yeast starter is bad?

So, do you think it would be ok sitting at about 60/62 degrees until Sat morning? Thing is, it looks like I started it a bit too early which ok, I get that. Good info for next time. But since I do have it started and it's looking ok, I want to try and keep it good until I can pitch it. So...

How would I know if my yeast starter is bad?

So here are a couple of quick questions I wanted to confirm on this also.... On brew day, I'm assuming I just pull this out of the fridge when I start, and let it warm up to the temp of the room where I'm going to pitch and ferment. Then When I get ready to pitch, I should dump most of wort...

How would I know if my yeast starter is bad?

You are right on almost every count. And yes there was a bit of off gassing. It is a 32oz jar. And yep I did pitch just one activator. It is Wyeast 1056. I'm trying to make a Blonde Ale. Thanks very much for your input. I do appreciate it from everyone.

How would I know if my yeast starter is bad?

Thanks man. I thought it was early but I've never done it before, and I was going off of the info in this link to a book on home brewing. I'll stick it in the fridge now. Thanks again. http://www.howtobrew.com/section1/chapter6-5.html 1. If you are going to brew on Saturday, take...

    Someone talk me down

10 years ago, you almost couldn't get decent beer in this country without an act of god. Unless you brewed it yourself. That was the only way to get a decent beer, and it was a good reason to home brew. While everyone on here probably has different opinions about the state of commercial beer...
