    Brewer's Edge Mash & Boil - Dip Tube Solution & Placement Q

The dip tube is used to suck wort out of the kettle during recirculation (i pump up to a loc line through the lid), whirlpooling (you see the arm in the above pic), and pumping out of the kettle to my cfc/fermentation vessel. I wanted a dip tube to reduce the amount of dead space below the...

    Brewer's Edge Mash & Boil - Dip Tube Solution & Placement Q

Thanks for the guidance. I don't think the direction will make much difference for cleaning/draining, especially since the whirlpool arm is removable...it's just clamped to the top with a beam clamp, similar to this arrangement. My only concern was with the sensor temperature readings when...

    Brewer's Edge Mash & Boil - Dip Tube Solution & Placement Q

The dip tube that I modified using the Spincycle part is sucking the wort, the whirlpool arm is returning it. I'm talking about the direction of the dip tube. Should it point in the same direction as the whirlpool arm, effectively drawing wort across the sensor: Or, should it point in the...

    Brewer's Edge Mash & Boil - Dip Tube Solution & Placement Q

I finally got my M&B last week and have been busy scavenging fittings and such to plumb it for recirc/whirlpool/cfc using a Mark II pump. The only thing I didn't have was a dip tube and as far as off-the-shelf solutions go, there isn't much that will fit between the inner wall and mash tube...

    Brewer's Edge Mash & Boil

I too am in the process of putting together a new brewing rig with the Brewer's Edge Mash and Boil...I don't have it yet (waiting for delivery), but I think it may be too stress on the outer shell of the vessel to move with 5.5 gallons of wort. The wort alone will weigh around 50# I think. 1 US...

    CFC sizing and Whirlpooling q's

Hi all. I’m planning for an eBIAB system (62qt vessel, 5-10 gallon batch size) in the future and I’m trying decide if a 25’ X 1/2” copper X 3/4” rubber hose CFC makes sense for the system. The other option I’m considering is a 25’ X 3/8” copper X 1/2” rubber hose CFC. I’m sure some of you will...

    Recirculating eBIAB Build

Your panel design looks like a perfect fit for what I want to do. I'm trying to formulate a plan for a single 240v 5500w element, single pump, recirculating biab system. I know you just ran it for the first time a little over a week ago, but is there anything about the panel that didn't perform...

    Thyme garden- any good?

Just an update...I ordered on 3/3 and received my Cascade, Chinook, and Fuggle today, 3/28. The rhizomes appear to be healthy with slight moisture in the ziplock bags. The Chinook and Fuggle rhizomes are the smallest at around 1/4-3/8" diameter at the thickest point each with a couple shoots...

How long is starsan good once mixed?

As long as the Ph is about 3.0, it's still good. I've heard people pitch it when it gets cloudy, but mine was cloudy when I first made it. I got some cheap test strips and now I just check the acidity occasionally.

When to plant around Kansas City

I'm in Overland Park...I order Chinook, Cascade, and Fuggles...but since I ordered kinda late, I asked Thyme Garden to substitute Centennial and/or Goldings if they run out of the others. I don't know how they'll do, but from what I've read, Cascade is great producer. How's your soil condition...

    Running twine for hops

I'd recommend using an old cinder block that's been out in the weather a while. Brand new ones will leach fly ash into your soil and considerably increase the ph to be somewhat alkaline. Remember, your hops like it a little on the acidic side...

    Running twine for hops

I was trying to come up with a way to do this too...I'm going to plant my rhizomes near the house (south side) and run my twine up to eyehole screws attached to the underside of the soffit, about 17' up. My initial thought was to use something like this to anchor to the ground: But I'm not...

    Trip to ireland

Sounds a lot like my trip last year...spent a couple days in Dublin then took the train (Iarnród Éireann) to Galway. Immediately rented a car and drove south to Dingle...that peninsula is stunning and Foxy's was great. After a couple days there, we drove north up the coast crossing the Irish Sea...

    Trip to ireland

True...on Nassau near Trinity College (south side) and the infamous Molly Mallone, hit Porterhouse for a pint or two. The pub grub is pretty good and their stout was good, especially after a long walk! This was actually the only pub in Dublin I went to that didn't serve Guinness.

    Thyme garden- any good?

I guess that means I'm in bad shape...just ordered a few rhizomes from TG today. :( Maybe, if I'm lucky, there hasn't been an abundance of pre-orders this year...but I'm not counting on it. As long as I can get 'em in the ground by early April, that's fine by me. On a side note, what are you...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Thanks for the second set of eyes...the crush just seems a lot finer than what I'd gotten previously from Midwest/NB. But I guess that's the point of building this thing and milling yourself, huh? Well, I finally got the rig assembled and ready for her maiden grind. Here's a pic fully...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Alright, I finally got this this mostly assembled and am currently trying to dial in my grind. I tried the the "tighten until you're scared" technique, but I want to make sure I don't shred the husks too much. I've ordered my grains crushed in the past and I've never really paid much...
