What came in the mail for you today?

My first grain mill - the Hullwrecker. I’ll try it out this weekend.

brew volume for pliny all grain

I lose 0.8 gal/hr in my kettle. Depends on the size of the kettle. I tested it a couple of times just boiling water and it seems pretty consistent and I have been hitting my target volume pretty well.

    3 gallon Fast Ferment conical?

This looks interesting but I wonder how I would use a thermowell and an airlock too. I suppose I would need to cut a large enough hole for a stopper type thermowell.

    Gigawort

Yeah I would really like to see some documentation on this thing. If it can raise the water to a certain temp, hold it, then raise to a boil later then that's all I need. I don't sparge so this looks like it might work for what I do.

    Gigawort

I recently started doing small BIAB batches and will probably continue that way in the future. I've been looking at various electric systems so that I could do everything in the basement. Then I get a catalog in the mail yesterday and noticed the Gigawort. Does this seem like a good choice for...

    controling temp during fermentation

I just bought a FermWrap along with an InkBird controller. It's working great to control the temperature in my cold basement.

    GOOD on Netflix STREAMING?

Yeah I felt the same way. I haven't gotten too far and already lost interest. Started watching Alias Grace. Interesting so far.

    Off-flavors with S-04/English ales

You guys are scaring me. I'm planning on brewing a batch of winter ale this weekend and the kit came with S-04. This will be my 3rd batch of beer and 1st time using this yeast.

    What are you drinking now?

My first batch of beer! It’s finally ready to drink. I used the Caribou Slobber kit from NB. Really happy with this one. A little on the sweet side with a nice caramel, malty taste. Even my wife liked it, and she normally hates beer.

equipment upgrades you wish you had from the start

Most people seem to want to go to larger systems but I wish I would’ve planned small batches from the start. I have lots of stuff for 5 gallons batches but it takes me a long time to drink that much beer. I want more variety. A couple weeks ago I did my first BIAB - a small 1.5 gallon batch (no...

Half the recipe, and full boil

Really? That seems contradictory to what I have read. And the IBU's certainly drop on BeerSmith.

Half the recipe, and full boil

Disregard this. I think I have the answers I need.

Half the recipe, and full boil

I have some extract kits that I got on sale and am interested in only doing half at a time. I did a 5-gallon batch previously and it will take me forever to drink all of that, so I will be doing some smaller batches to have a little variety. I'm wondering about water volume and questioning if I...

    GOOD on Netflix STREAMING?

Stranger Things S2 was pretty good. But they could have totally eliminated episode 7. I just wanted them to get over this little side trip and get on with the main story. And I just finished Mindhunter. As a fan of Criminal Minds I really liked it.

    GOOD on Netflix STREAMING?

I'm really liking this show so far. But what's with the obnoxiously large location text? All of a sudden you have "Wichita Kansas" across the entire screen.

    Advice

I'm pretty new at this and in a recent class given by two experienced mead makers, they said add some energizer & nutrient at the beginning, then add more & stir (de-gas) at 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours. My first batch turned out tasting pretty good at just 3 weeks old. I just started a...
