Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Welp, my beautiful boil kettle is taking a trip back to Spike tomorrow for it’s new port! Sure beats the price of a new hood instillation. So glad I didn’t sell my old boil kettle because I have to get 3 beers out in under 2 months. So it will have to be garage door wide open until then. Too...

First Time Using Slurry.... Not sure what to do

Hey, hey! I’m in Leschi near Seattle’s international district. My regular LHBS is Sound Homebrew near Georgetown brewery. The club I’m part of meets there as well. Great shop and people. Folks in the area seem to really like the shop. I thought the shop might be a ways from you but it looks like...

After looking at the attached pic I’m inclined to agree.

First Time Using Slurry.... Not sure what to do

Oh yeah. I let it settle in the fridge.

First Time Using Slurry.... Not sure what to do

it’s fine probably to use if decanted. I’m just paranoid about getting a vegetal flavor from the old hops. So to wash what you have decant the existing beer gently. Fill with distilled water and swirl. Cover and let it the hops settle but the yeast should still be somewhat suspended. This is...

First Time Using Slurry.... Not sure what to do

What @day_trippr said. Decant. Maybe even wash with distilled water to separate hop debris. And then starter. But that’s just me. I wouldn’t let more than a month pass a slurry.

Do you need a 1 off Stainless part built for your system? Let's discuss it.

That’s kinda cool. How many gallons is your MT? I’d be interested in solutions you two come up with. My MT is 15 gallons. Btw @Jaybird, I just purchased your conical yeast harvester. Will be in use next brew!

Anyone have a recipe for Lush?

Hi folks, The version I brewed is in the keg. I followed @Bowen1911 recipe. Had a longer mash because of power outage. It went out mid way through recirculating. I let it sit for a little longer to ensure conversion. Had to rearrange single tier to catch wort from MT to BK. Sparge water was...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

That’s what I was looking to do until I saw what Spike did for @mongoose33 and I really dig at how clean and flawless the weld was in the photo. But knowing me I’d probably end up spending more if I did it myself. I don’t have a good track record for diy. Lol.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Spike just contacted me about adding the port. $60 for shipping both ways and $50 for the addition. Much more reasonable than purchasing and installing a condensate hood. Estimated turn around will be 1.5-2 weeks. Good thing I still have the box. Luckily I didn’t sell me ebiab set up yet which...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

This is terrific information. Thank you very much! Figures that you live very close since it was hardly a weekend after you got your kettle back. Just waiting to hear back from them.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Hi @mongoose33 Would you mind sharing info about how much Spike charged and what the turn around was? Did they send a return slip or did you have to figure shipping on your own? So glad I still have the box. Thanks for any info. The steam condenser route is probably the more logical and cost...

Washington For sale: 20gal jacketed conical fermenter and much more

Good grief! Subbed because I may need something. Will have to look later. About to head off to Fremont Oktoberfest. What condition are your ball lock kegs? Edit: Are you home week days? It’s like I’d need to see things in person at some point.

    Batch log

New to the game is Brewfather which also provides batch tracking. It allows you to log everything. The software also integrates with my Tilt (and ispindle and brewpiless). It’s a web app so you can access it anywhere on multiple platforms. Worth a look.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours setup......

Yeah, definitely looks great. How is it with condensation?

    Trouble with TILT

Glad you found somewhat of an answer. Good thing I read this before my next brew. Just wondering if anyone here has chosen rechargeable batteries. If so what brand? Thanks for posting, btw.

Anyone have experience with Morebeer glycol chiller

Unit arrived late. Will have time to mess with it tomorrow. In the meantime here’s the owners manual. Pretty straight forward. No frills manual. https://brewmasterwholesale.com/images/file.php?file_id=21570
