    The Catalyst fermentation system..........

I have one. It's actually pretty sweet and easy to use.

    Catalyst Fermentor Kickstarter

I am bottling my first beer from the Catalyst this weekend. I was surprised that I already pulled off two jars of trub...clearly pellet hops and whirlfloc create quite the sediment. That inline filter looks intriguing, anybody actually used it? If it clogs mid bottling that could be an issue...

    First time full batch boil

I see nothing wrong with steeping them in the full boil volume just like you would otherwise. As long as you are heating the whole thing up. That is similar enough to a BIAB method. But steeping in less, then adding water shouldn't have an adverse effect if you are pulling them out before...

Yet Another Noob Brew Question - No Fermentation Activity, High Alcohol Smell.

Airlock activity will usually stop or really slow down after initial fermentation, which as mentioned may only be a couple days. Lack of activity is nothing to worry about, especially if your readings are good. The reason to leave it sit after fermentation is to give the yeast a chance to clean...

    conical fermenter

I recently bought a plastic...although a much more durable/hard plastic..conical: The Catalyst, and it is fantastic. Light weight and easy to use. I used to brew with some friends and we used buckets and carboys. The ability to dump the trub without transferring is really nice. I went this way...

    Catalyst Fermentor Kickstarter

There was a video posted with a dye solution and it did not mix as well as one would hope. I've been debating a gentle stirring or carb-tabs/sugar-cubes/simple-syrup per bottle. I am about two weeks from bottling, so I've got some time to decide. EDIT: here it is, Craft A Brew posted it many...

    Airlock for dry hopping: Crazy?

You could always try a randall/hop back to get that extra hoppy punch.

    Small batch striking and sparging

Brew In A Bag refers to mashing your grains in a mesh bag in your kettle, then pulling that grain bag out before the boil. As mentioned, hops can be in smaller bags to free float in the boil. I use hop bags, but yea...using pellets most of the hop matter ends up at the bottom of the kettle anyway.

Beer Smith 2 mobile app any good?

I do like the timer feature. My last brew I used it and it will automatically pull your hop addition times so you don't have to set a timer for 30 minutes then 15 and so on, it was pretty handy for convenience sake. And I agree with the basic design features and putting in notes during the...

    Small batch striking and sparging

There are calculators out there to determine water loss. As a practical example, I just brewed what was supposed to be a 3 gallon batch. Started with 4.6ish gallons and ended up with about 2.75 in the fermentor. That was BIAB (about 6.5 pounds of grain) and a 60 minute boil on a new system. I...

    Foam on conditioning beer.

Could it be from a secondary fermentation? I know, a lot of help there...but it's all I got. I've never noticed anything like that, and I don't remember the last time I used lactose. Been at least five or six years.

    Confession Time

A few years back we were serving beers from our homebrew club, and some of the members were not there. One them gave me a "light gose" to serve. It was a little sour, salty and refreshing on the 90 degree day we were serving. When I returned the keg and told him it went over quite well and...

Couldn't you just purge the jar(s) with CO2 before connecting? Use one of those handheld cartridge things. I realize it would not be 100% effective but should drastically reduce the amount of oxygen. I also kickstarted this thing and am excited to start brewing again after a few years hiatus.
