American IPA The New West Coast IPA

Wow, 48 hours after Biofine. 10ml in 5 gallons. Crystal clear.

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

Pretty impressive, only 24 hours with Biofine and this is a 34/70 beer which is notoriously slow to clear. Recipe was West Coast IPA Is Dead, but used Mosaic Simcoe Citra. Also first time acidifying post boil. I think it made a difference.

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

I'll add another 5ml, I'm impatient too, but also cheap. It's a bad combo.

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

I thought I'd start there because I've had people mention as little as 3 ml.

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

Well I grabbed an 8oz bottle of Biofine. I just kegged another batch of West Coast IPA Is Dead and added 5ml in the keg. Excited to see how it works.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I'm no expert, but I add a couple PSI of pressure, which seems to keep them down. Not sure if you can do that with your setup.

I've used Gelatin in the past, and was certain it stripped out hop character. I just ordered an 8oz bottle of Biofine, I'll give it a try. When is the best time to add it? In the fermenter when cold crashing, or in the keg?

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

Thanks, how much biofine are you dosing? It's fairly pricey compared to Gelatin.

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

I've always wondered, does fining with Gelatin strip out hop compounds?

What came in the mail for you today?

Solid recipe section with clones from professional brewers, rest of the book seems more aimed at newer brewers. Not sure I'd recommend for experienced or more advanced homebrewers.

    Brew Your Own or Zymurgy?

This. I dropped Zymurgy and BYO because the content was often regurgitated, or very tangentially related to brewing beer and uninteresting to me. I love CB&B and have subscribed for a few years now. I think I'm still paying $3/month and I read every issue cover to cover. The podcast rules...

    What are you drinking now?

Old Elephant foot is my go to beer whenever I'm in Florida. They even shared a recipe with me. Old School WCIPA so good.

    What are you drinking now?

I've consumed a lot of NA beers. I find freshness REALLY makes a difference, especially with the "hoppy" styles. Having said that Guinness 0 is by far my favorite NA beer. It's so close to the original it's crazy.

New post a picture of your pint

Looks amazing! Would you be able to share the recipe? I've been wanting to brew a Saison with New World hops. Cheers

    What are you drinking now?

This is one of my "guilty" pleasure beers. I've tried to clone in numerous times and have never really gotten close. Something about the hops they use or something.

How full (Weight) do you fill your Kegs?

Some complicated processes here. I just tare the scale with the keg and stop at about 18.5kg.
