Has anyone tried Clarity Ferm (Brewers Clarex) from White Labs?

I agree on the cost. Do those other clarifiers work on chill haze too?

    Just purchased Avery Imperial Oktoberfest

I'd like to try to replicate at home. I've found a recipe for the Maharaja that just knocked off an Arogant Bastard clone from my brew schedule but nothing for the Imp. Oktoberfest. I don't have much experience yet cloning on my own. Adam Avery wasn't much help when I asked for alittle...

Fairfield, CT. First time I've seen anything from them. I'm on a mission now to find the Maharaja.

    Just purchased Avery Imperial Oktoberfest

probably everything you'd expect of a finely crafted 1.085 og Oktoberfest. I suspect 2 years in the bottle has made it even better. Massive malt but not cloyingly sweet.

Couple ?'s for my 1st original recipe

I've used oak in an IPA clone, not in an APA. I figured, maybe wrong, that the higher grain bill and 155 deg mash might give it enough body to stand up. I thought I read here that if you use geletin in the secondary the yeast are no longer sufficient to bottle condition.

Couple ?'s for my 1st original recipe

I tried my first original recipe to enter a local homebrew competition and I forgot to throw in the Irish moss. Will it make a huge difference? If I use geletin in the secondary should I pitch new yeast to bottle condition and what kind? New Kettle American Pale Ale: 11# 2-Row Pale ale...

    First year homegrown hops

New to homebrewing and hop growing. First year harvest is not good, as I had expected. Cascade, centenial, Mt. Hood, Northern Brewer and sterling. I would like to throw what little I have into an IPA. Any suggestions; during mash, FWH, at flameout and should I adjust the grain bill.

    Double IPA Tits-Up Imperial IPA (3-Time Medalist - 2 Golds, 1 Silver)

Do you recommend additional yeast a few days before bottling for bottle conditioning?

    Double IPA Tits-Up Imperial IPA (3-Time Medalist - 2 Golds, 1 Silver)

Can't wait to try this one. The web site I'm ordering from does not have summit hops. Is there a reasonable substitute? Are the hop weights for whole or pellet? Does it matter? Sorry for all the questions, still learning.

    Overnight Mash

I might give it a try and see what happens. I plan on brewing a Pils, Hefe-Weis and an IPA. Any suggestions on which one might handle an overnight mash better?

    Overnight Mash

Are there any drawbacks from mashing at night, leave it in the mash tun (10 gallon cooler mash tun) overnight then sparge in the morning? I'm attempting to brew 3-5 gallon all grain batches in 1 day. Kids' skating lesson screws with my timing.

    Fourth of July Brew

Thank you for the suggestions. I was leaning toward an ale, IDA Independence Day Ale

    Fourth of July Brew

I'm planning my brew schedule and thinking about the Forth of July. I'd like to share my new hobby for the neighbor's bash, 2 all-grain 5-gallon batches. The weather around here for the 4th is usually 90's, sunny and wicked humid. Any suggestions?

My apologies. I guess I need a thicker skin. Apparently some of the humor escaped some of you as well.
