    Secondary with a conical fermenter

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I'll have to get the sampling port and go that route.

    Secondary with a conical fermenter

I have a question that I've been curious about, but have not ever seen any bad come from. I'm using a plastic fast fermenter. After the primary fermentation (most beers about 7 to 10 days I let set) I pull the trub bulb, clean it out, fill with water and reconnect for another week or so. I...

    RO systems cost effective?

I've been buying purified water from the grocery store. Doesn't bother me, but better to deal with than the well water at home. I have a RO for drinking, but it would take days to get enough to brew since the reserve tank is only a couple gallons and needs to recharge too often on a larger volume.

Average Pricing to Install 240v 30 Amp Outlet

I installed a 100A subpanel in, ran 2 new outlets and filled the sub panel with new breakers for $600. Thats all parts, but did the work myself.

    Christmas Ale

I didn't have any of the orange in mine. I had 5 different hop additions. Last one was whole hops at flame out. I wish I could tell you what was what, but the brew store doesn't give me their bill and I am too new to figure it out haha..

    Christmas Ale

I just did one that wasn't too sweet. Used invert sugar, but basically tastes like a dark IPA with just a small hint of sweet. It was my local brew stores recipe so don't have the specifics..

Build your dream 5 gallon electric BIAB system....that will be at my house

5 gallons has been running out very fast for me. I'd like the ability to go up to 15 as my personal preference. Gives me options on brew size.

Build your dream 5 gallon electric BIAB system....that will be at my house

My dream system isn't 5 gallon and there are so many options for 5 gallon systems out there. I'm using the Brewers Edge Mash and Boil and really like it. My dream system is something like the Blichman or Spike Pilot systems, 15 gallon

    Bad brew day

Yea, wouldn't be the same haha.. I ordered some brew gloves for the future. can sanitize them and can reach into a 5 gallon kettle w/o issue

    Bad brew day

Hope it all turns out. My Sunday was a mess too.. Made the stupid mistake of dropping whole hops in at flame out as part of my recipe. Of course, they sank and clogged the outlet of my kettle. Had to star san the he// out of my arm and reach in to unclog it.. lol

Brewers Edge Mash and Boil with Anvil Pump

You are probably right about temps. The reason I took the anvil control off is I didn't let the grain settle and had a stuck mash that started filling the internal basket so for some reason I was temped to just use the MB valve. Next time I will not kick the pump on until the grain bed is...

Brewers Edge Mash and Boil with Anvil Pump

Hopefully Im not repeating an existing thread somewhere, but I am using the Brewers Edge M&B. It didn't have the built in pump so I added the anvil pump just to recirc my mash. First think I noticed is that the pump doesn't seem to keep consistency well. Once I throttle the valve on the M&B...

    Pump for Whirlpool of Wort

I'm skeptical on the plastic heads. Im using an Anvil pump just for wort recirculation. The pump is ok, but I am not risking boil temps with it. The plastic impeller and head housing aren't the best thing in the world as I notice its very hard to throttle. It is not as consistent as these...

    Using hazelnut Extract

Exactly why I went light with the orange. I am going to do a chocolate raspberry stout, but with cocoa nibs, a little bit of vanilla to counter the nib bitterness and raspberry puree during fermentation. Will be something to play with, but looking forward to something a bit different.

    Using hazelnut Extract

I don't have much experience in extract, but the orange IPA I recently did I used sweet orange peel (1oz) last 10 minutes of the boil. I then added 2 oz of a 4 oz bottle of the extract at kegging. The bottle said an ounce per gallon, but with the combo of the peel it turned out great with...

    Homebrew Con 2020 Nashville

11 hour if I check from city to city, probably more from where I'm at in MD. Asked the wife if she'd be up for a road trip and she wants to fly. I said I won't be able to bring home as much fun stuff if we fly lol

Stuck Stout - What to do next?

I recently did a stout that had the same outcome. OG was 1.048 and the final was 1.020. I used Wyeast, but was thinking the yeast wasn't yielding the correct volume since it was 4 months old. I re-pitched dry and I got a little movement, but nothing to significant. In the end, the stout...

    Homebrew Con 2020 Nashville

I heard from our local club that last year was awesome so I am going to try to get to Nashville for the next one. I'd like to drive, but it's 11 hours. Not horrible since I would drive to Stowe, VT to snowboard and that was about the same.

    Hi from Annapolis, MD

Conical 5G Fast Fermenters. I like the system, but they are still plastic and after a while I'm wondering how the threads will hold up. I'd like to move to SS conical for longevity and easier to keep clean.

    Keg and beer line cleaning

I am just using Purified water out of the bottle. I don't use the house tap for anything since Im on well water. Ive never noticed any accumulation either.
