    It's not necessary to have a stir plate to make yeast starters. But it does make a big difference. Keeping the yeast in suspension and allowing the whirlpool to pull oxygen into the solution builds up a bigger starter in less time is all. But a simple starter can be made in any sterile vessel...

    Works best with a calibrated oven. I've done it a few times with cider and haven't lost a bottle yet. Just put a temp probe in the oven. To each their own though there are 9 ways to skin a cat. Everyone has their own methods

    Just be careful don't let them get too hot, and don't take them from the hot oven and set them on a cool surface. Just let them slowly come back to temperature in the oven

    You can also use your oven to pasteurize. Put all the bottles into the oven at room temperature, slowly raise the temp to 150F, hold for 25 minutes, turn the oven off, open the door and allow the oven & bottles to cool to room temp again, then chill.

    Not freaking out, I swear. I just have half my house moved, half of my things done, thought I had another few weeks. Wish I could have a beer, momma isn't feeling great though it'll have to wait. Goodnight guys!

    The only non X drive that I'd own would be an M5. At least in New England. But I'll never own an M5 so you know... as fun as a rwd car is in the bends, I like being able to get down my driveway without dying in January. I'm drinking coffee, been at the lab since 5. Oh and I never took drivers...
