Ways store associates respond (that make you want to set them on fire)

I had a fun one yesterday when I went into Home Depot to pickup tubing for my CIP system and some other stuff. I'm in the plumbing (toilet/sink) isle and I can't find the 1 1/2" ID reinforced vinyl but I do see spa tubing, but I can't find a temp or PSI rating on it. So I look around and ask...

    Brewhemoth Pressurized Ferment questions

As I haven't used my conical yet, this is completely academic.. but I woudnt at any point use a sight glass or other collection device immediately. I'd likely do an inital dump 2 or so days after fermentation starts to drop trub, and the early floculated yeast you don't wish to collect until I...

Brass in fittings that touch finished beer?

I do live in California ;) I mowed my lawn yesterday... I shudder to think about how much cancer it caused. :drunk: I'll probably try and find a SS F/F fitting just for piece of mind. Well, because I don't want to buy another $13 TC fitting, when I already have one, and also because I...

    Brewhemoth Pressurized Ferment questions

I did, and to be honest I'm having a really hard time telling how much trub/hops made it into the second kettle. I wish he had extracted the water and weighed what made it through, but it certainly looks tons better than no filtration at all. Also because he did these tests with water...

    Brewhemoth Pressurized Ferment questions

From what I recall, the rapid depressurization from higher psi can cause the yeast cell walls to burst, killing the yeast you're trying to harvest.

    Brewhemoth Pressurized Ferment questions

I think I went overboard on parts.. I ended up with 15 1/1.5 clamps but at least I have spares. I was actually thinking about something like this for fruit beers and maybe even dry hopping. http://www.brewershardware.com/FILTER1.html plus...

    Brewhemoth conicals?

:mug: I'm not worried about the wort in lines as that will be different from everyones system. However any fermenter will always have some loss, you never get 100% of the beer out. For example in my current profile based around better bottles, my trail and error estimates show I lose...

    Brewhemoth conicals?

I need to update my beer smith equipment profiles. Anyone calculated loss to the fermenter with these conicals? I also need to go find a aquarium pump for the IC, is there a desired minimum gph for circulating coolant through the IC?

Brass in fittings that touch finished beer?

So I ordered a Tri Clover 1/1.5" to 1/4" MFL fitting from brewershardware with the intention of placing it on my racking port and threading a standard 1/4" nut & barb to beverage line and a liquid in ball QD to allow me to rack from conical to keg without exposing the beer to oxygen. However...

I like this time at night on HBT

Actually, a vehicle is one of the few thing right now that wouldn't be a terrible idea to go into debt for.. Most of the major manufactures are offering 0 to 0.9% 60 month financing. At less than 1% I'd be willing to leverage their money and hang onto mine.

I like this time at night on HBT

I hate to be logic debbie downer, but that's a terrible idea. Fund your obligations first, then spend on luxury items like brewing supplies. My wife and I would never touch our savings for a luxury item, but then again I live debt free aside from my mortgage. /enddebbiedowner.

Denny Conn's Bourbon Vanilla Imperial Porter

I made mine with Makers Mark. I can usually find it for right around $20 a bottle and I thought the vanilla notes of the bourbon would mesh well in this beer. I could distinctly pick out the bourbon the first week or so after it was drinkable, but by three weeks in the keg everything had...

    Brewhemoth conicals?

I wouldn't think 3/5HP would have enough umph.. though this one probably would and is only a few bucks more. http://www.harborfreight.com/1-horsepower-dirty-water-pump-with-float-69301.html

    Slanting yeast

I've had problems with agar before when I didn't heat it enough to fully mix it in. I was doing a batch of 24 vials at the time and what happened is most of the agar ended up almost as a jelly near the bottom. The first 16 or so slants never set and the remaining ones were rock solid. I ended...

Brewhemoth conical clean in place (CIP) systems

What do you feel that pump brings to the table that something like http://www.ebay.com/itm/900W-1-HP-Submersible-DIRTY-WATER-DRAIN-PUMP-Auto-stop-/190572533921?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c5f0218a1 won't deliver?

You said the dreaded C word, thrice. I'd suggest just hiding under a rock until it all blows over ;)

Theoretically, say a brewery wants to brew my beer

The scenario Donner describes above is referred to as 'Work for Hire'. The photographers gets paid a raid, and the employer retains all copyright to the images. P.S. Ugh, just realized I replied to a necro'd thread.

    Video Games

Having both systems, I never found nearly the presence on PSN that is on xbox live. While I'd prefer that apps like Hulu and Netflix didn't require gold, it's really not that expensive. If you shop the deal sites you can usually find 12mo gold subs for $35-39 delivered and they stack if you're...

why did YOU buy a conical fermenter?

Honestly, I bought mine because I wanted one and knew I was getting a really nice bonus this year so I had no problems dropping some cash on a luxury item. I did have a few practical reasons for wanting one, but there was no legitimate need. My main desires were to stop having carboys in my...
