Now I feel like I belong here.

Cheers, Ordered one up from Amazon should be here tomorrow thanks to Prime. Can anyone recommend any links or reading material to help a noob figure out how much wood chunks to add for long smokes? Both beer can chickens I've done at 325F have burned through what I thought was an decent...

    Home improvement salesmen rant

So, you do SEO/Web Marketing work spending long hours with few breaks on client websites for a low wage without complaint right?

    Buckboard Bacon- Pork butt bacon...

I'm not the OP, but I'd definitely be interested in seeing that link, and hearing more about bacon smoking.

    Post pics of your smoker

Here's mine. Did a smoked beer can chicken on as a first smoke to get used to it with some hickory & pecan. My wife wouldn't stop raving about how good the chicken was, and stole all the leftovers for herself :drunk: lesson learned, next time do two chickens at once.

Ways store associates respond (that make you want to set them on fire)

I almost never tip a to go order, unless they do something that goes above and beyond them putting my food in a box and in the bag. I always tip delivery people be it curbside or to my house, and I always tip servers unless the service is beyond terrible. I've never had a gratuity...

Now I feel like I belong here.

Did a smoked beer can chicken last night with a bit of hickory & pecan at 350ish for just about 100min until it registered 160F in the breast. I then let it rest for 20 min before carving it up. I need to figure out how much wood is needed for a full long smoke. I used 1 big handfull of...

Now I feel like I belong here.

After 2 years of saving, and searching for a used one, I finally pulled the trigger on a new BGE. Got it all put together (which took far longer than I thought it would), and did a 3lb tri tip on it to test it out. I forgot how good meat done over lump tasted as I've been grilling on...

American Pale Ale Russian River Row 2 Hill 56 Clone

I've made it before with as little as .5 IBU / Gravity point (30 IBU to .060) and while there was more malt, it was never too malty. Hopefully yours will still turn out enjoyable. I typically do .3oz/gal dry hop with this beer to stretch my Simcoe, but I've never complained about .5oz/gal...

American Pale Ale Russian River Row 2 Hill 56 Clone

Hrnm. If you really hit 1.064OG you're going to be pushing 6.9 - 7.2% depending on how well you attenuate which puts you more in the IPA range but only slightly hoppy. You can increase dry hopping a bit for more aroma and some flavor, but your bittering isn't going to change at this point...

    Books

It costs roughly 70M a season, 6-7M per episode, that's uhm.. $115k per minute :drunk: GoT has a bigger budget than ROME, which is a concern as it was production costs that caused that series to be cancelled after only 2 seasons. GRRM has stated tat he's given the basic plot outlines for the...

    Need advice on my wife.

Passedpawn was suggesting a compromise, it wasn't a concession from what I saw. Just because she came into the marriage knowing he brewed and liked to have some drinks doesn't mean the situation can't have changed does it? Here's a real world example for you. My wife and I have been...

    Need advice on my wife.

Though likely to yield more positive results than asking beer advice from a marriage therapist no?

    Need advice on my wife.

Maybe you're just interacting with the wrong women? My wife is nothing like that, but it's unreasonable to insist that everything is 100% equal at all times. Marriage is about sharing your life with someone, not making sure everything is fairsy.

    Books

I've always been a fairly avid reader, but since getting my kindle I've really upped the frequency at which I read. Lately I've been chewing through the Dresden files (up to #9) and according to goodreads I've read 10 books so far this year.

    Need advice on my wife.

I guess it depends on who you ask. To you it's obviously acceptable, to your wife it isn't. I never drink 6 beers in an evening anymore.. I don't think I've had a time when I've consumed six beers across an entire day/evening in the last 2 years. Then again I have a 2yr old son, and I...

Do You Cook With Your Homebrew???

I threw together a chili last night using 2lbs of left over brisket, 3lbs of fresh chuck and 20oz of chorizo. I sautee sweated the onions & garlic in my vanilla bourbon porter and then deglazed the pan with more vanilla bourbon porter and browned the chuck and chorizo in it. Threw everything...

    Need advice on my wife.

^ That Plus, there's a good chance she's at least partially right. You didn't say how often you drink, but mentioned up to 10 beers. That's a lot of alcohol and calories and you already said you're a big guy. That puts you at much higher risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack...

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

I've been eyeballing this for filtering out dry hops and maybe for when i do fruit beers as well. http://www.brewershardware.com/FILTER1.html Curious to see what you sketch up.

American Pale Ale Russian River Row 2 Hill 56 Clone

I personally wouldn't add any maltodextrin as it's mashed high enough to retain enough body to match the commercial version, but YMMV. I currently carb in the keg with co2 by setting it to serving pressure (12psi for my system) and leaving it alone on the gas for 2 weeks. I've personally never...

    Need help canning chili

Glad I found this thread. I just sliced up a brisket for dinner, and plan to use at least 1-2lbs of the leftovers with soem chuck and chorizo in a double batch of chili. We can't always finish it in time so often give some away, but now I think I'll can a couple quarts for eating later!
