    Lagering questions

Derek2k3, #1 There are 2 trains of thought on pitching temp. Pitch the yeast at fermenting temp and pitch the yeast and little warmer then fermenting temp and let it start then bring it down to ferment temp. Ideally you want to ferment between 48-52. Lagers require huge yeast starters. Easily...

Getting the most out of grains

Fumanchu. Dont sweat it> I did the same stuff my first Allgrain Batch. I heated the strike water to the mash temp. I heated the sparge water to the mash out temp. Let the sparge sit too long. Its all part of learning and I would understand how to do it right had I not first did it wrong first...

    CPVC Manifold Issues

I used a cut off wheel. It more or less melted the holes. Not much debris. You could try running your bottle brush through them after your done. I didnt really pay it much attention. Cheers SW

I have a burner where your cooler is mounted flat across the shelf. I cut the legs off a banjo burner. I...

    Keezer Size

Pirate. Id say that plenty of room. My keezer is 15 cu ft. 46x28. I have 5 cornies and a 20lb tank in it and nothing on the compressor hump. Might be a little large for fermenting IMO. I use a second one that about 7 cuft. fits two carboys. I like to serve and ferment at the time. I started...

Rectangular cooler mash tun braid question

+1 on the manifold. I use the same cooler with a cpvc manifold. Works awsome. Easy to clean and almost impossible to get a stuck sparge(even with almond flour in the mash, thats another story )

    Hello Fellow Washingtonians!!

Catmandu. Welcome to the club. I'd recommend you get plugged into a brew club. It's the best thing I ever did to grow in my brewing experience. Having all different levels of brewers to bounce things off. And having people to taste your beer. And give you critiques is awesome. You have two clubs...
