Syringe for Injecting Gelatin into keg...

I mean if you've purged your keg with CO2 before you filled it, and the beer already had some residual CO2, I hardly think pouring gelatin in would make that much of a difference compared to using a contraption.

Syringe for Injecting Gelatin into keg...

So you are carbonating the beer then clarifying it? That's interesting; I've used gelatin before but it was always before carbonating.

Syringe for Injecting Gelatin into keg...

What's the benefit of doing it this way as opposed to just pouring it from a measuring cup, bowl, mug, etc?

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

Yeah, this is in reference to a new one. My old one fell off a shelf and the plastic nozzle snapped at the metal coupler. I went and bought a new one at HD and it smells like gasoline.

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

Has anyone noticed a gasoline aroma from the flo-master sprayer when new? I'm guessing it's from the lubricant they've used (I removed the lubricant and lubricated the o-rings Vaseline). I've tried using PBW and normal dish soap to but nothing seems to get rid of the smell.

    Alcoholic ginger beer

I've made ginger beer in the past, and it is not that different from making an extract batch of beer. Keep things simple and add only what you need. Adding some citrus for acidity is ok but I think you're overdoing it with lemon, lime, and pineapple. I've never had to add cayenne to add heat to...

    Describe your biggest mess

    1. My plate chiller has an inlet for a water hose and and outlet that dumps hot water through a hose into the driveway. The wort inlet comes from the brew kettle and the outlet recirculates back into the brew kettle. I switched inlets by accident one time. I ended up filling my kettle with water...

    List of beer quotes...

There once was a man from Nantucket, who peed in my fermenting bucket. The joke is on him though, I dry hop with Simcoe. It smells just like cat pee, I am here now to tell thee, I took one giant whiff and said f*** it.

    White Labs Yeast Vault

Did you get any sort of tracking number ahead of time? I sent White Labs a feedback email asking if they could send people tracking numbers but they didn't reply back.

    Flowers/Cones in May?

Some of the cones have formed into fully fledged hops. No yellow lupulin or aroma from the cones yet but it's still cool to see them bursting at the seams.

I agree. I took a look at the tracking number to see when it was delivered and it had only been in my mailbox for 27 hours. It's crazy to have yeast that is so fresh! :ban:

    White Labs Yeast Vault

Thanks for the heads up. I also ordered the Lager X strain. Unfortunately my mail box is not by my house so it's hard to tell sometimes when I get mail. I went out there and found it sitting in there and the ice pack had already melted. Hopefully the yeast is still good as it has probably been...

When they ship do they give you a tracking number? Also do you remember if they ship FedEX/UPS or USPS?

    Flowers/Cones in May?

There's a lot of good discussion in here. I always just let the hops grow as much as they want to but maybe next year I'll prune them back and see what happens. I think this is my Chinook plant. It's potted but it is about 16 feet tall. I used a flash in the photo which might have contributed to...

    Flowers/Cones in May?

I've never had this happen before but it looks like my cones are starting to form in May... Have any of you seen this? Normally it happens much later...
