The homebrew house of my dreams... is 30 days away!!

I am super stoked. The below photo is a separate outbuilding on our new home we just purchased. It has it's own HVAC, full bathroom and water heater. 650 sq. ft. We are going to turn this into a brewhouse/tasting room. Can't believe this is happening!!

    Cleaning your Bag

I rinse the grain stickies off with a hose, then I just put it in hot water and let it soak for a while. Hang it up over the shower rod to air dry. It has a tan color....but who cares?

    Sack squeezing and haze

I have a pulley that I lift and hold the grain bag over the pot, I have two silicon gloves and I squeeze from the top, then work downward squeezing several times till I get to the bottom. I get a lot of wort out. Before I didn't squeeze very much and I was not hitting target #'s... after...

    Spike Brewing Kettles

I also will give a shoutout to their kettles. Just finished my first brewday with the new kettle. I agree completely with the OP, the boil off rate is spot on at about .8 p/h. The welds, temp gauge and spout all of great quality, especially considering the price! I can't find anything wrong with...

What's your process for accurate BIAB mash temps?

Awesome, I use the same calculator. I like the simplicity of it.

What's your process for accurate BIAB mash temps?

As I get close to strike, I stir the pot quite often and turn the flame down to about mid burn. Once a degree over or so, shut off the flame. Stir more...put the lid on while preparing grain to pour in. Put in bag and pour grain in 3-4 steps to avoid balls. By the time I do all of this, I get...

Good to be back on the horse again....

A lot of things happened in my life the past couple years, divorce.. my father passing a close grandmother passing. It has been two years since I have brewed. Just wasn't ready to be normal again I guess. But on this fine 64 degree morning, I am brewing up my nice brown ale. Feels good to be...

Most annoying response when you tell someone you're a homebrewer?

Yep...I get that too...I have an answer for it though..."when you grill a burger, do you try to make it taste just like a McDonalds Cheeseburger?"

Most annoying response when you tell someone you're a homebrewer?

Yes that one is always appreciated...as well as the bottle never to be returned....despite it was a 22oz. bomber that you mentioned you specifically would appreciate getting back

    Wilserbrewerbags vs The Brew Bag

+1 Wisler...just did my first brew with one Saturday The drawstring giving you the ability to tighten around the kettle is much nicer than having you use clips. I use a pulley to hold suspended and squeeze ...works great

First BIAB, photos...brew notes...why did I not do this earlier...

So that was awesome...entire brew day 2 hours 45 min!! Holy... Brew Notes...two unknowns going into this that had me nervous was how much water to start with because BIAB calculators on the net are all over the place. And what kind of temperature loss will I have not using the pre-heated 10...

Almost ready to switch to BIAB, recipe question...

With high gravity brews I will probably do those AG like always. Somehow if I buy a larger kettle...I feel like I am abandoning my current brew pot. Like cheating on a wife kind of thing... :(

Brew in a Basket...anybody try one of these?

Also wondering if they would be a total pain in the a** to clean...seems like tiny little grain bits would get into the holes,

Brew in a Basket...anybody try one of these?

    A little expensive it seems.

Almost ready to switch to BIAB, recipe question...

One more question...I have an 8 Gal. Megapot. I do make some 8%-10% ABV beers for the winter. Am I going to get squeezed with this pot?
