My suggestion would be skip the cooler and do BIAB with everything in the BK. Theres really nothing to it...Crush real fine. Steep grains in bag at around 152 pull bag, boil chill done. Get a mill if you plan on doing all grain. You can control the crush and buy base malts in bulk and save...

I use an auto siphon and suck everything out the kettle..It gets a little thick towards the end and slows down but it gets the job done. You dont need to leave the hop debris behind if you dont want to...no pumps

Will it work to help my tomato garden if I dump it in the garden? It has hops in it I'd just be whipping it into the garden from a bucket. I rototill each year Any benefit to the garden microbes or just dump it down the drain as usual?

Even if you lost a full tank the difference between a 5# and 10# is only a difference of like $5, by me anyway. My concern is the the connection at the tank. I've had slow leaks there. Once its hooked up and proven leak free by a Star San spritz the last thing I want to do is open it up to swap...

I havent ordered hops in a year or more. I could have sworn Cascade was the cheap hop for like $12 a pound and under $10 on sale Looking online its $20 in many/almost all places. Some are cheaper but the shipping brings it right back up to $20 Did it go up a lot...like double?

I disagree with 5 pound also Almost the same cost to refill a 10 pound as it is a 5 pound and twice the gas. I have 2 taps and fill the tank 2 times a year at the most and brew 10 gallons once a month Buy the cheapest used one you can find thats still in date....the first time you fill it...

He was measuring how much he got out AFTER a full hour of draining. Pretty sure nobody lets the bag drain for an hour. 25 pounds of grain holds a lot of liquid. I still get a good amount out if I squeeze the bag after 15 minutes or so. Would probably be easier just to add a little more strike...
