Here's what's growing on a small beer (low alcohol) at 12 hours into the primary. Yeast was from a starter built up from small sample of WLP001 CA Ale. I guess you do have to be careful when building up small starters! Anyone know what this is (besides nasty?)

Tired of slow starts, I made my first starter and planned to pitch at high krausen (which happened at 24 hours on the stir plate.) Couldn't brew, so it went in the fridge and after a few days, I warmed it to ambient over 12 hours and planned to brew. Couldn't brew (again! :mad:) so now I plan to...

I still don't know what the difference between "Star San" and "Star San HB" is. I assume the HB stands for Homebrew? As noted in the last post, the contact time on the HB label is 3 minutes while on the old bottle of Star San it is 1 minute.
