What can I do with this yeast?

Just used that yeast in a vienna lager, I really like it but I don't know how it would do in warmer temps, we fermented at 53ish F. You could probably do a steam beer with it.

Blowoff water sucked into beer! All of it

I usually use the blow off tube for ales, and airlocks for lagers since ales seem to have more intense ferments, But I was out of airlocks this time so i used the blow off tube. I should have switched to an airlock when i put it in the fridge, oh well lesson learned. in contrast, the stout...

Blowoff water sucked into beer! All of it

Thats good to hear, i've seen a few posts about this but most of those only had a little bit drip in the beer not a whole cup

Blowoff water sucked into beer! All of it

After my vienna lager was done fermenting in the primary, I put it in the fridge to cool it down a bit before lagering. Today I noticed there was no water in the blow off container, I knew right away that the temp difference must have caused a suction. It was sanitized water with Iosan, but it...

    Funky tasting pilsner

the temp too warm is what i was thinking, even though it was at 52 for the majority of the time it had activity, (clear glass carboy so i wasn't just counting the bubbles). It doesn't taste spoiled just estery i guess. I agree it is way too early to jump to a conclusion yet.

    Funky tasting pilsner

If the yeast wasn't sufficient then how did it get the beer to 1.010? My buddy and I are not beginners we have been brewing for almost 5 years, we usually brew twice a month.

    Funky tasting pilsner

Decided to attempt a second Bohemian Pils, this time with White Labs 800 pilsner yeast. Everything went good and the OG was 1.052, left it in the mid 60's for the first couple days, then decided to pitch another vial of yeast and a few hours later it started fermenting. Cooled it to about 52 and...

    That Lager Taste

Yeah i have read the same as well, brew a strong beer and water it down...which probably contributes to the distinct major brewery flavor

    That Lager Taste

I'm pretty sure its a spring seasonal, my friend bought a six of it last year and its really good. I'm not a huge fan of red tail or the other bird brews lol but I love their oatmeal stout

    That Lager Taste

I've tasted a few homebrewed lagers that had a distinct finishing taste similar to what all the major lagers have. And yes I think what asterix404 said is what i'm looking for, a clean crispness absent of any esters that ales have. I know everyone's taste buds are a little different, but to me I...

    That Lager Taste

Been all-grain brewing for about a year and my buddy and I have made some pretty damn good ales but we need to get lagers down. First one was a Pils (pretty much a clone of Jamils Bohemian Pils) I think it got infected somehow cause it tasted bad, Also not enough yeast was pitched.... too many...

    Pitching with a yeast cake

Have a good 12-14oz (slurry) of wyeast 2053 in the fridge that i collected from our lager about a month ago, we are brewing a black friday black lager and I am debating whether to make a starter since there is so much yeast, I know it probably wont hurt to make a starter but i'm sorta worried...

did a diacetyl rest and still buttery

I originally had pressurized the keg to force the oxygen out, then i turned off the gas. I Carbed it to 3ish psi just to test taste it and thats when i noticed the diacetyl. Now it sits at room temp with no gas, i'll leave it for a week or so and hope it does the trick. Thanks for all the...
