    Dried fruit

Here are the dried cherries I use. They have no added oil or sugar. They work great.

    First recipe, summer saison

The other thing to consider. What did you plan on for FG? The reason I ask is that most brew software way underestimates FG. So it may suggest that it would finish at 1.008, when more often than not it will finish well below that, giving you a much higher ABV. Most of my saisons finish in the...

    Official Broken Hydrometer Count

+1=2225 Did not realize it was broken. Dropped it into my test jar to get a fg reading, went straight to the bottom. Luckily I always keep a spare. Not too bad only second one broken in over 350 brews.

    First bottling day. Some questions.

Hey Revvy.. good to see you back. It has been a while. Listen to Revvy. Bottling should take no more than an hour. With clean bottles I usually bottle when I Brew and it is more like 30-35 minutes.

    Love Golf?

I went to Ireland a few years ago also. Links courses are so much fun. Different golf than we are used to here. My favorie course over there that I played was Lahinch. Awesome. Took a caddy and he had me hit shots that I would have never thought of. amazing.

    Love Golf?

Look at my screen name.... I play 4 days a week in the summer. (mid May to September) Rest of the year, weather permitting probably 1-2 times a week. Amazing game. Usually shoot around 80. Personal best a few times 74. My goal is to shoot even par sometime. I am close to putting it all...

    Thermapen sale!

That is a great price. Thanks for the link. I may pick up another one. I use mine constantly for both brewing and cooking. With grilling and smoking season starting having a spare may be a good idea.

    Belle Saison post primary ferment

Belle Saison is a pretty temperature tolerant yeast. If you are using heat to keep the temp up, you would be fine to just let it clean up at room temp. If you are at 1.005, I would not be surprised to see it drop down a few more points. Belle Sasion is a beast like 3711 and will always finish...

    Raw cane vs table sugar

It really does not make too much of a difference. If you do add it to the boil, just make sure to make a proper sized, healthy starter and aerate the wort very well. If it is a really high gravity beer, adding it a few days into fermentation can be helpful in trying to get the beer to finish...

    second batch - low alcohol?

How do you know they are low alcohol. I can give you a 9% Belgina tripel that definitely does not taste like a 9% beer. The only way to tell is to get gravity readings( with a hydrometer) before fermentation (OG) and after fermentation is complete. (FG). Then you can use the formula. (OG-FG) x...

Better understanding of an all-grain recipe

There is no need to complicate it. Somewhere in the 1.25 Q per pound will work. A little higher or a little lower will work. No need t get super stressed about it. Then after the mash, just measure how much run off you got. I do like puddlethumper does, using a measured stick to measure the...

What? They make Beers sour now?

Kettle sours beers are decent, but lack complexity. Brewing sours is actually very easy. They just take a long time. Get a pipeline going and it is very easy Just get a recipe and boil it up. Add a pack Roselare blend. Now the first generation of Roselare is pretty tame, but the best thing to...

    Next Home brew Upgrade?

Another vote for fermentation temp control. It is the best way to improve the quality of your brews. If you are not making starters now, that is another thing to look into.
