    Brewery names--what's your story?

Several years playing Eve Online mostly spent with a corp named Lords of Kaos and an alliance named Systematic Chaos. Our corp had a chat channel called Kaotica. With that and my brew day style, Kaotic Brew Co seemed a good enough fit. Eventually will do a logo with the name font, but...

    Firearms

I started with the Beretta 92FS and got the Walther for carry and something manageable for SWMBO. In Dec I snagged a Colt 1911 Govt XSE and my goodness I love that thing. So I (kinda) have both standard issue US Military sidearms used for the last 100 years, but for me the Colt is a far cry...

    Graphics Software

Another Gimp +1. That and lots of YouTube tutorials for text and other effects and yer rolling. Find the script-fu plug-in for some cool effects.

Something only a Cheesehead Would Understand.

Sheepshead. Wow, I grew up with every family gathering ending with the old folks playing that and the kids left to the own devices. Good old' Fox Valley tradition. Lotta people drinking Old Style and Brandy Old Fashioneds back then.

Spigot on primary sprung a leak

Thanks. Spigot is ok. Unlike my other bucket where this spigot has a very tight fit thru the hole in the bucket, this new one has a bit of a gap so I need to get the rubber gaskets lined up carefully. When I bumped it the whole thing moved and the gasket wasn't covering the hole in the bucket.

Spigot on primary sprung a leak

Self inflicted pain... I brewed a pale ale last night and pitched about 9pm. Finished cleaning around 3pm today and moved my primary bucket in the closet to make some room. Bumped the spigot on the wall and it sprung a leak. Kinda rushed to clean and sanitize my bottling bucket and poured...

Say hello to the new guy

I learned a ton by using a couple resources. How to Brew by John Palmer is excellent and is online at www.howtobrew.com. This site is excellent. I use the iPad forum app and the search results are a bit spotty, but I find that googling my questions inevitably leads to a discussion on this...

    Ya hey from Sheboygan, WI

Welcome and +1 to doing first brew with a mentor of sorts. I grew up in Neenah and Appleton but moved away long ago. The local Flying Saucer has a menu item called the Sheboygan Side-by-side. Couple brats on a bun with kraut. Hard to find good brats in Charlotte. I haven't noticed any...

Cold crash in garage - bad idea?

Maybe just had a mini epiphany... I can put the bucket on a work bench during cold crash and pop the lid and rack right there when it's time. Then move the bottling bucket inside. Appreciate the replies. Anyone have thoughts on the temp fluctuations?

Cold crash in garage - bad idea?

That's kinda what I suspected about undoing the cold crash by moving the bucket. This is my second batch, the first is very cloudy but I did 17 days in Primary and then bottled. This batch will be 28 days in primary so hopefully that will help. Just don't want a brown ale that looks like a...

Cold crash in garage - bad idea?

Newb question number 2,435,551... I've been able to google my way to most answers, but not this one. I'd like to cold crash a batch that has in primary for 20 days. My garage is the only good option. Here in Charlotte area temps will bounce from 30's to high 50's each day. Is that ok for...

    Hi From Charlotte, NC

Birdsong seems to be another one. Apparently it's next to NoDa. Wish we'd get one up here in Concord. I'm about as energetic as Homer Simpson these days, not too often I can be bothered to drive south of Harris blvd.

    Hi From Charlotte, NC

Welcome. I'm in Concord and did first batch on 12/01. Had a couple of my own brews watching Packers and Badgers this weekend, from WI way back when. Mine were drinkable but disappointing, but was pretty cool to pour and enjoy. Wife still thinks I'm going to poison myself.

    Greetings from North Carolina!

Lol. Popular brew, I just ordered everything from Brewmasters Warehouse for the extract version. Little disappointed with my Belgian, probably wasn't the best choice out of the gate. Hoping this one is better. Dang, Canyon, nice stuff. I feel inadequate. You ever make it over to Four Friends...

    Greetings from North Carolina!

Welcome. I'm in the Charlotte area. Pretty new myself, learned a ton lurking here and watching YouTube vids. How'd the brew day go, did you sample the wort?

    Hey Y'all - Anything I'm missing before I boil?

Can't tell if that kit has one, but an auto-siphon will make moving that beer around easy peasy. Welcome.
