    Michigan & Wisconsin Travel

A bunch of college friends from Milwaukee took me to a bar called Safe House for new year's back in about '93 (yikes). It was a pretty cool place, looks like it is still around. http://www.safe-house.com/mission.html. I've never been to anything like it. Might be a fun stop.

Magically carbed keg of pale ale

I am not quite sure what happened, but I am really confused. Six weeks ago I brewed a pale ale. Three weeks ago I kegged it and put it in a closet under 5lbs of pressure. I let it sit in the closet longer than planned after brewing and tapping a wheat for a visiting family member. Today I...

    Ohayo gozaimasu from Okinawa

GL and welcome. I lived on Yakushima for a couple years back in the 90's, not too far from Okinawa. Loved my time there.

    Strong Bitter Common Room ESB

After a full two weeks in the keg this is a really good brew. Had a couple pints while brewing today. Apologies for the lack of head, it's actually nicely carbed but this sat for 20 min while I battled near boil-overs.

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

Couple iPhone pics, but they don't show the color well. It isn't so dark in person. This has been in the keg for a week. Turned out really well, despite the leaky spigot that caused me to dump the whole thing into a new primary on day 2, and the broken fridge that meant I had to ferment in a...

I could use some advice on my resume

I've read about 400 to 500 resumes in the past 10 years and have done a decent amount of hiring in the IT space. First, I can't recall ever seeing a resume with a reason for leaving a position. That is not required or expected there. I don't generally ask why some left a job unless I see...

    Another NC Brewer!

Welcome. I'm also in Concord. If you haven't been there, Alternative Beverage in Mooresville is worth a trip. They have a big, clean retail space with kits and lots and lots of brew stuff. There web site is a bit clunky, ebrew.com but the store is nice and they are very helpful. Have fun...

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

This weekend I had some friends over for dinner and the Irish guy had his wife cut him off after four glasses. Nice complement to hear an him say, "that was a right proper Red, liked it better than Smith'icks. Told me wife on the drive home I might try home brewing myself." Just kegged the AG...

    Wanting to make a kegerator

Once I bought the equipment it took me under 2hrs to convert my garage fridge. I have room for 2 ball lock kegs and a fermentor, but have to bring the temp up to 62 for a couple days during the fermentation process, after it slows I move primary to a closet and return the temp to 38. Link to...

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

Made the all grain batch yesterday. Wasn't the best brew day; did mash in with correct volume and temp but only hit 151 instead of 154. Held 150 thru mash so minor bump, was really close on grav numbers. My garage fridge decided to kick the bucket so my fermenter is sitting in a closet at 70...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I was brewing a batch of MysticMead's Raging Red Irish Red Ale, and I cracked open one of my EdWort's Haus Pale Ales and saw this: Yey clear beer.

    Home-brewers in Charlotte, NC

I'm in Concord. There are several people from the area, I see them post in the introductions area. Frustrating because they always point out how close they are to NoDa, Four Friends, Birdsong, Olde Mecklenberg, Beer World, and all the other stuff that's 40min away for me.

    Strong Bitter Common Room ESB

I brewed this today, but it was my first full blown batch on my all-grain equipment. I lost 1.5 gal during boil and wound up with 5 gal at 072 gravity. O.o I added some bottled water and got FG to 1.055. Otherwise it was a nice smooth day and I'm looking forward to a new brew. Thanks for...

The stupidest comment on your beer

I gave a couple to a friend, a simple brown and a simple pale. He raved to everyone about the pale and told everyone the brown was way too strong, with escalating abv guesses topping out around 12%. The brown was a smooth but hoppy 4.2% and the pale was a mistake and was 7.5% with a noticeable...

Has anyone seen this?! (yeast starter saga)

Thank God I found Craigtube and didn't stumble onto this guy when I was scouring YouTube for how-to-brew videos. He got a triple dose of the socially awkward gene; he clearly doesn't understand that those videos and his posts have people enthralled with how brilliantly crazy he is. He should...

    Hop Flavored Cigar?

Not sure that would be for me, but along those lines I tried a Humidor Amber Ale Homebrew that was supposed to have notes of cedar and tobacco. It reeked like moth balls and tasted like puddle water; I tried it after watching 4 other people spit it out. Some things aren't meant to be mixed.

    Looking For Vegas Homebrewer Hospitality

Ellis Island brews on site, I swung by there a couple weeks ago since it was walking distance from MGM Signature. They could use some help, bartender told me I had to leave if I wanted food, their pale ale was mediocre and I could see thru the porter. Wasn't terribly impressed, but they at...

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

Wow!!! What a fantastic brew. Kegged today and simply awesome; smooth, malty, by far my best result to date. Sorry for the crappy garage pic, but it's where the keggerator sits and I was too excited to go inside. I just got all my equipment for all grain brewing, and the 1st thing I'm going...

    Kegerator and Brown Ale Shower

Purchased a 2 keg deluxe refrigerator conversion kit from Midwest Supplies and it took about an hour to install. Here's the kit: http://www.midwestsupplies.com/kegging/kegging-systems/homebrew-deluxe-2-tap-system.html I started by measuring the center points for the holes and drilling a...
