how easy is it to move a keezer on wheels?

I'm planning my keezer build with a Kenmore 8.8 cf chest freezer. How easy is it to move that keezer if its set on casters and loaded with 6 kegs?

    Keezer sighting dead ahead

That keezer looks great. I just got the same freezer and am going to start my build soon. Is it easy to move the keezer on the casters when its full of kegs?

    How much washed slurry?

Normally when I collect yeast to re-use I collect everything from the bottom of my conical and store it in the refrigerator for up to a week in a clean jar and pitch that entire jar into the new wort. On Saturday I collected the mess from the bottom of the conical and washed it to give that a...

    Keg sanitizing with boiling water.

I have only ever cleaned my kegs with boiling water. I do so when a keg is kicked and before I fill it. I have an electric kettle (tea kettle not brew kettle) that holds about a half gallon of water. As soon as it comes to a boil I pour it in, seal the keg, and give it a shake. Ill let the keg...

The glasses you use for drinking your brews

I have probably 40 different glasses that I've "legitimately" acquired from bars here and in Europe. They end up collecting dust in my cabinet as I find the imperial pint glass is best. They feel great to hold, beer looks good in them, and they hold 20 oz. I mostly brew pale ales so those...

    Quick Connect Fittings

Saw cam lock quick connect fittings on this site: http://www.proflowdynamics.com/. Any reasons why aluminum fittings would be a bad idea? I know an aluminum boil kettle is supposed to leave a bad taste or something, but what about a fitting that the wort is only passing through on the way to the...

    Lager Fermentation 101?

    This is great info. Thanks!

    Lager Fermentation 101?

I'm prepping to do my first lager and I'm looking for a real good and descriptive procedure on lager fermentation. I guess my main questions are: What temp do I pitch at? How quickly do you raise the temperature from fermentation to diacetyl rest? How quickly do you cool to lagering tems after...

    liquid vs dry

Go dry. Its cheap and convenient and the results are great.

    Using Growlers to Bottle

I didn't have a bomb, but as I kept pouring from the growler all the sediment kicked up and the last beer was real cloudy. I suppose if you pour right from the growler into a pitcher you can avoid that problem.

    Keg Conditioning

I have a two keg kegerator and just got two additional kegs to improve my "pipeline." I only keep my beers in the fermenter for a week or so until they are finished fermenting, then keg with priming sugar and let them sit for 3 - 4 weeks. Its a good way to go.

    Any money in balanced beers?

I agree with keeping it simple and brewing drinkable classic styles. I tasted a new start-ups brown ale that has chili peppers, brown sugar, cinamon, and something else in it. What's the point in that, can't they just brew a good brown ale without all the crap in it. THey have another...

    Another PSI question

I used the 5' line that came with my tap tower for about 18 months. Then I got tired of reading dozens of postings and calculating hose lenght with different formulas to stop the foaming, and I ripped out the 5' line and put in the 10'. The beer line is about $0.50 per foot. Spring for the...

    Another PSI question

Why don't you save yourself a whole lot of hastle and just keep the beer at 10 psi. I run 10' of line and 10 psi, and its perfect. A little slow but no horrible foam or messing with the keg or regulator.

Stale Hops from Crosby & Baker

I emailed C&B about the problem, I'll post their reply. I wrote to them saying I'm buying aroma and flavor hops batch to batch and finding out on brew day that I have stale hops kind of wrecks the brew for me.

Stale Hops from Crosby & Baker

I buy bulk too from Hopsdirect, and their stuff is great. The NB I had is from Hopsdirect, and with only an ounce in a small bowl I could smell it from a few feet away. The C&B Cascade was lifeless. Each of the 3 shops stores everything cold, and I store hops in the freezer. How can you...

    Visiting New York City

Take the subway to Williamsburgh Brooklyn and go to the Brooklyn Brewery. Its well worth the quick trip from Manhattan. While there you can eat nearby at Radegast Hall, its a great Biergarten.

Stale Hops from Crosby & Baker

Does anyone find that Crosby & Baker hops are stale lately? I bought 2 oz of Styrian last summer from a shop upstate NY, and the hops smelled like cardboard. I recently got the same whiff from a C&B pack of Amarillo from a different shop and just now from a pack of C&B Cascade from a third...

Dry Hopping in a Paint Strainer Bag?

I use a large mesh bag from my LHBS, add a shot glass to weigh it down, and hang it in the fermenter with fishing line.
