    Explain That Name

I have been trying to figure out what I would call this one, but I figure since I broke my pinkey toe preparing to brew the beer (i finished brewing in pain) I would call it "Pinkey Toe Pumkin Ale" I just started (last week) trying to formulate recipes. I wanted to brew a Pale Ale and ended...

    no bubbles after 24 hours...

I have always had good results by putting 4 gallons of bottled water in the fridge the night before brewing . I use one gallon bottled water plus one gallon tap water in the boil. When the boil is close to finished I add 3 gallons of the refridgerated water to the fermenter and pour the hot...

Excessive lag time and bucket woes.

I used Safale 56 for the first time on my last batch. I pitched directly onto wort. I came back 5 hours later and it was already bubbling away (i was surprised) I used Muntons Active Brewing yeast (DRY) on my previous batch and fermentation took 72 hours to start. I imagine it was the...

    The Nerve of some people

If Im planning a large gathering at my place I ALWAYS talk to the neighbors or leave a note (with name and phone #) and let them know that I'm having people over. I also Invite the neighbor over for a beer. Its a nice thing to do. Most neighbors haven't come over for the beer (but a few...

Brewing makes me nauseous, sounds strange.... anyone else?

I'm now looking for a single burner propane set up. Don't want to go to turkey fryer, but that may be the wave of the future. I try and brew when she's away at her mothers house. I'm not sure why you are wary of a Turkey frier. I bought one at Lowes for $50 and it works great...

    Cloudy Brew

I agree with the answers above. The beer just needs time to clear. (2 weeks in 2ndary is best) I know, your want to get that beer in your belly as soon as possible, but It's definitly better to wait. (if you bottled now you would probably end up with 2 cases of bottle bombs and a huge...
