    My Wand Is Malfunctioning

If you bottle over an open dishwasher you never have a sticky floor mess.

    Dry-hop my egg-beer?

Sounds like it's likely just a fermentation byproduct then. Likely just going to exist add a gas and not be in finished product.

Mangrove Jack's M20 Bavarian Wheat yeast advice

Hi, I am about to brew a batch of the lemon lime hefe weizen and am going to use Mangrove Jack's Bavarian Wheat yeast. Up until now I have been predominately brewing American ales with US-05. Any recommendations on how I should treat this yeast any differently than what I am currently doing...

    Dry-hop my egg-beer?

Have you taken a sample to taste? How long had it been fermenting for?

    Dry-hop my egg-beer?

Note that the smell of fermentation is not the smell of beer. I have had some pretty funky smelling brews that have turned out to taste delicious. I would just proceed as normal and dry hop for a week in the primary. You can still wash your yeast even if you dry hop (if you use a hop sack) and a...

    Allergic to beer

My sister has celiac disease so I am quite familiar. You can rule out barley and wheat and potentially oats as well. Grains that are ok: corn, rice... what other grains are even used in beer besides what I have mentioned?

    Agitating dry hopping in primary....advice.

One thing I have tried with my ipas which seems to help with hop utilisation is to use a hop sack abd tie it in the middle with dental floss. I put glass marbles in either side to weigh it down. It really resembles testicles disturbingly. Then I route the floss through the hole in the lid for...

    Beer bottled without priming sugar

I have noticed that sometimes if my DIPAs finish higher than I want them (1.018-1.014) and are cloying sweet they get way better after a month in the bottle and lose that unwanted sweetness.

    Can we use plastic bottles?

Not at all. They make Brown plastic PET bottles specifically for home brewing to eliminate this issue with light. It's really no different than using glass except don't make the mistake of putting them through the dishwasher unless you want your bottles to shrink and deform.

    Flat beer...

Sounds like best thing to do now it's store them in a dark cupboard and wait a couple weeks to see what you end up with.

    First Brew Day Advice?

Did you take the OG reading before or after topping up your fermenter with water? If you took it before dilution that would explain why it was so high. Could also be that the wort wasn't fully mixed with the top up water when you took the sample. You should be pretty much spot on if you're using...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

I may not even bother with the water and just add this as a concentrate

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

I worked it out to be 192 g sugar, 201 ml lime juice and topped up to 1680 ml with water as per the nutritional information and subtracting the natural sugar content of lime juice from the total sugar in the nutritional information.

Replacing fruit with juice in recipe?

So you have 92.4 g sugar in the whole bottle. I am sure someone else must be familiar with a formula to calculate how much additional fermentability this provides? Like I said, I have only used this method for bottle priming.

Replacing fruit with juice in recipe?

Does the juice have nutritional information? I have used nutritional information on a can of apricot nectar to bottle prime a wheat beer.

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

I live in Australia and don't have access to this particular brand of juice. Would I be able to just juice lemons and limes in the appropriate quantity as per the ingredients percentages in the original juice?

    Gluten Free Summer beer (extract)

One thing to note about coriander is that the stuff you get pre ground from grocery store and even the whole seed from standard grocery store is likely a different variety to the one you want to use in your beer. Indian coriander seeds are orange and shaped oblong like a football whereas the...

Roasted beetroot is delicious. Very popular here in Australia.

    Bottling out of fermenter

My primary has a tap and I bottle directly from primary. Just add sugar syrup to primary and stir just a few inches below surface (nowhere near trub). Never had any issues with oxidation since disturbance is below surface and not disturbing the trub. But many people seem to disagree with this...
