    WLP090 WLP029 WY1272 S-04 I don't really do lagers so I don't have any favorite lager yeasts.

Colorado Malting Company-Any Group Buys Planned?

There was a time when the group buy pricing was a great deal. It seemed like the last time around it was cheaper to just order a 50lb bag of Rahr online. At least that's what I've been doing for the past year or two. A 50lb bag of Rahr is around $50 delivered to my door. A lot easier to order...

    Midnight wheat vs wheat

True. I missed the part about the 30lb grain bill. +1 on the recipe request.

    Controlling Attenuation Through Mash Times

I got a pump for my system and now have a direct fire RIMS setup. I did a step mash with a 30 minute rest at 133. It took 15 minutes to step up to 151 which is when I then started the clock for a 60 minute sach rest. Total mash time was 105 minutes. My efficiency was through the roof at...

    50' x 1/2" copper IC = awesome

Agreed. But I imagine yours is even better. I heard somewhere that 3/8" is ideal due to surface area of the copper vs volume of water traveling through it. I would think that 1/2" would be comparable, if not better, if you get the proper flow dialed in. Mine gets wort down to temp fast...

    50' x 1/2" copper IC = awesome

I made a 50' chiller out of 1/4" tubing. Gets wort down to 70 in 12 mins.

    RIMS Temperature Measurement

No worries. That gives me something to think about as I continue to upgrade my brewing system.

    RIMS Temperature Measurement

I don't have a controller or heating elements. I'm using a manual direct fired RIMS system.

I am more concerned about denaturing enzymes than stratification.

    RIMS Temperature Measurement

Duh. Makes sense. How long is the probe on your thermometer in that pic?

    RIMS Temperature Measurement

Exactly like that! Thanks! I was having a hard time visualizing it. Could one use a T-fitting rather than the 4-way cross?

    RIMS Temperature Measurement

I've been reading through a bunch of old threads on here and it seems like the most logical place to measure the temperature in a direct fire RIMS setup is at the outlet ball valve. What I can't find is how a thermometer is incorporated or configured in this manner. Does anyone have any...

Cheap pump and FDA approved 12v 100c

I'm using the pump right now. It's running like a champ using a 12v/.6 amp power supply. Power supply is getting a little warm as I've been running the pump for an hour straight now, but it's not too hot to hold your hand on it. Does anyone know what the impeller is made out of? I've heard...

Cheap pump and FDA approved 12v 100c

Thanks for the feedback. What does an output of +5V mean in the pic below? Also, I'm looking at getting an adjustable ac/dc adapter. Does one adjust the amperage or voltage to adjust the pump flow?

Out of curiosity, what would be the consequences?
