Fermentation started again after vanilla added in secondary

It does not look infected. You may have just kickstarted fermentation again by racking. Nothing to worry about.

    InBev Strikes Again

I don't think there is a need to panic with this one. I am not a fan of InBev but Look what InBev has done with Goose Island. They have not ruined the name and products from what I can taste. This can only be a win for the brand with the long arms of InBev introducing it where it has not been...

    Keeping Frementer Warm

sorry for the slow response. I would set it so it is not touching the bottom or sides of the fridge or freezer. Put it in a small stand up lamp or one of those clip on dish style "work light" reflectors.

    S-33

S33 is a weird yeast. I personally do not care for this yeast after really giving it a good go. Never had an issue with stuck fermentation. Quite the opposite. This yeast is a beast and will chew through your beer pretty fast. If you want a as clean as possible fermentation, keep your...

    Keeping Frementer Warm

A ceramic reptile heater that plugs into a light socket works very well and is by far more reliable than a traditional light bulb. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/321753337453?lpid=82&chn=ps& ul_noapp=true I use a water bed heater in mine. I rolled it up and sat it in the bottom of the fridge I...

    Northern Brewer Replacement

This thread has gotten a bit off topic. We all know many don't like the acquisition and why, or are for it and why. There is a separate thread to project your feelings and thoughts on that topic..https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=592174...... The topic for this thread is: Norther...

    Pineapple & Grapefruit Candi Syrup

I would love to try the dark syrup and perhaps the pineapple. I use dark candy syrup in a few brews and the price at the local homebrew shop keeps me from using candy syrup more often.

    Keggle price?

Buy the bayou pot on amazon. The heat transfer with the thin walled flat bottom pot is by far superior to using a thick walled keg with a domed bottom. I sold my keggle to make that switch years ago. I get 4-6 batches out of one propane tank using the pot vs 2 with the keggle.

    First possible infection? Help!

if you racked to a bottling bucket and let it sit long enough to get infected you should either taste it and bottle if not too bad or dump. If it were mine I would dump it and get a new bottling bucket. If you do bottle once the bottles are carbed get them in a fridge and drink fast to avoid...

    Carbing problems

Put it in a warmer room or closet and do not touch it for a couple more weeks. The higher the abv the longer it will take to carb. It can take 30 days or more depending on temp and amount of yeast in suspension when you bottled it.

    Co2 to scrub oxygen?

add a couple ounces of corn sugar to the keg and let it sit at room temp. It will ferment, carb your beer, and the yeast will take care of some of the o2 :)

What is the white foam on top of my wort?

mouse jizzz..... :) In all seriousness that is yeast! let it roll :) On second thought add your yeast.

    Strawberry kolsch turned sour

I have added strawberries to biermuncher's centennial blond several times. The results are excellent. I puree then pasteurize the berries and dump the slurry right into primary. 4-5lbs does the trick. When the sugars from the berries are fermented out it does give a tart slightly sour flavor due...

    Name that Infection Game

Looks infucted for sure! I'd let it ride for a few months. Tis a bummer. Those festa kits are kinda expensive :(

    Equipment upgrade time

There are many options to use as a heater in your fermentation fridge. The heat lamps for reptiles work extremely well and are a safe inexpensive solution. I use a waterbed heater in mine. I rolled it up and set to its hottest setting and put it on the bottom of the fridge. Others use an...

Seal-a-Meal Vacuum Sealer is total crap

Ding Ding Ding!!! This is sound advice!! The FoodSaver! I cannot say enough good things about their sealers. I have one that is at least 12 years old, has been heavily used, and the only part that has failed was the foam gasket. The company still sells replacements parts for my model btw...
