Anyone multi-task smoking barbecue with home brewing?

I do both frequently. Both are easy and take little effort so combining a cook with a brew day is a snap. If using my smoker all I have to do is load up the charcoal basket with some lump and wood chunks. Once the smoker is up to temp I can drop in a hunk of meat and let it run unattended for...

    Chili Recommendation

I cook lots of mexican dishes. My favorite peppers to use are morita, dried cilies des arbol, pasilla, guajillo, serrano, and of course habenero. I have brewed with cayenne, habenero, morita, and serrano. All of the types I mentioned pair with cilantro when cooking. Why not a beer? :)

I'd like to convert this recipe!

I would recommend obtaining a copy of beersmith. It makes it really easy to convert extract recipes from extract to all grain. I would convert and post for you however I am no where near my home pc.

    Help - Mini Kegerator Question

Corny kegs are by far the best way to go hands down. Cheap. Many pubs fill for cheap and if the person wants to go to the next level and brew they are already set up to keg. :)

    Help - Mini Kegerator Question

Drink tanks 128 oz growler with the lid/co2/tap accessory. Allows you to get a gallon and serve just like a keg without the beer going flat or getting oxidized. It is a bit pricey compared to a corny keg but does work. Below is a link to the growler and lid. The other option and in my opinion...

Mangrove Jack's Bohemian Lager M84 Dry Yeast

This is one of only a couple yeasts from them that I kinda liked. Fairly neutral and it flocked well. It is a slow starter. I highly recommend making a huge starter. First try I used 2 packs of yeast and it took a few days at 52f to show any sign of fermentation. If if using the fast turn around...

    bottles from local bars

Also if you are in a state like ours where just about every mom an pop convenience store sells beer and there is a deposit, the shop owners may let you have the returnables for the deposit fee if you ask nicely. This approach worked out well when I was gathering bottles when I first started...

Making a Blackberrry Lager in a Coopers Kit need help

add it during the last day or 2 of active fermentation if you are going to bottle right from the coopers fermenter. The yeast will stir it in for you. The effect will not be as good as if you transferred to a bottlling bucket but will do the trick.

    Tell me about your club

Camaraderie and a half dozen or more events per year is key. Once you have a core group that like to spend time with each other the rest is easy. Keep meetings simple. Keep people fired up on group events such as brew days (I recommend doing several per year). Events area a must. If you just do...

3 taps - what would you chose?

I have a 3 err now 5 tap set up. When I was rolling with 3 I would keep an APA or IPA in one slot, brown or wheat depending on time on year in slot 2, then a stout.
