    Messy.....

Yea...It really comes down to equipment availability for me...I use the secondary for bigger beers or to clear my primary for the next brew if it needs a bit more time to clean up... I'm still a noob, but think I too have formulated the opinion that the secondary is really an optional step...

    List of Pop-top beers

The labels come off the Sam Adams really nice and usually readily available anywhere.... I've had some luck as others have posted with local bars saving some for me.... :cross:

Question to experienced keggers: I have a 5# canister...I have been carbing my beers with the CO2, but I am almost going through the ENTIRE thing a 5 Gal batch???? Is this normal, and I need to get a bigger canister next time, or am I screwing something up... Or maybe I need to just go...

    Messy.....

cool.....thanks cubbie for all the help. lesson learned here is to either be more patient or use a secondary...which I typically do....Thats probably why I had beer ready quicker last batch... damned hardest part to this beer-making is waiting to drink it!!!! s:drunk:

    Messy.....

Update: check it out.....Went down this morning to check the progress, thinking I'm gonna have to empty, re-keg, etc...etc... I pour a glass and it's perfectly fine!?!? Carbonation has kicked in, and although a little hazy, the sediment is completely gone....Tastes pretty yummy too...

    Messy.....

Thanks... I'm not sure if the root-cause was a sloppy racking or time spent in the primary...(It was just shy of 3 weeks...) I'm not sure I wanna bend my tube, so what exactly is "cold-conditioning"?

    Messy.....

ok....I'm on my second batch kegging and I need some help fixing a problem (if there is one...) I got a little busy (ok....lazy...) and racked straight from my primary to my keg. I primed via carbonation a few days ago, and checked it this morning and it's ugly as hell....It looks like...

    Tap system parts too old???

I'm not completely sure I understand "forward-sealed", but I am thinking that they might be corroded to some extent... I am going to try and soak them, but we'll see...I'm just trying to be as thrifty as possible, cause the Mrs. has been really patient with my homebrew start-up to this...

    Tap system parts too old???

Alright....embarking on outfitting my game-room bar with a 2 tap system, coming from my fridge in the garage. I am going right through the garage wall into my game room with the lines, and installing the taps right on the wall within the confines of the bar. I have two questions... #1 My...

    Yeast Cake Question

I am running out of the house, and just transferred to a secondary out of my primary, and would like to use it as a starter... How long can I let it sit in the primary (covered with the lid as we speak), before I have to use it? I am heading out, and just don't have time to read up and get...

    Filtering Question

THANKS to all.... So, I am taking the advice that filtering is "not" necessary.... I am still just a little unsure on the whole priming process though? So the way I have read the directions, I am to transfer from the primary (fermenting) to my bottling bucket....THEN I add my priming...

    Filtering Question

I am a brand-new home-brewer, and was curious on the experts opinion on final bottling filtration... I have not seen very much in my research on it, and plan on sharing my first batch (fingers and toes very much crossed....lol) with family and friends for the holidays. How much leftover...
