sorry....my original gravity reading was higher than anticipated. Root cause (I think...) was that I ended up short on my total volume... I guess my confusion is what exactly the definition of "efficiency" is...? My layman's perception is essentially getting the most out of grains you are...

The post boil was the higher number...(070) A discussion we had on another forum topic was that it's possible the lower volume led to the higher reading...It only dropped to the 50's after adding some boil water to my fermenter to bring my overall volume back to the 5gal batch...(I ended about...

LOL....That is EXACTLY what I felt like... BTW, we do now have bubbles...moved the fermenter to a little warmer part of the house and...voila....first time using this yeast, but the 4 deg difference in temp seemed to get things rolling.

sorry guys....got busy over the weekend...I was pitching WL005 (British Ale)... It finally started yesterday, but still a bit sluggish...My temp where I normally brew has fermenter around 66 deg which is actually really normal, and I have brewed around 9-10 batches there no problem...

Well now I am a little concerned cause I have zero fermentation activity...:confused: Not hittin the panic button just yet, but this is the first batch that I have ever done that after 12 hours or so to not have any activity yet...Maybe my thinking is off, but I would have thought a higher...

yep....we may have crossed posts... I'm sure now I'm a lot closer to the call-out OG after adding a gal of H2O....I'm just spent after whole brewing process and bagged the reading...just closed the lid and called it a night... I'll grab a reading tomorrow and post back... :D

Yea...that was the compensated reading...The OG was based on a 72% efficiency...I got about an extra # of 2-row... knowing I would be batch-sparging...But even with that compensated for, it still was supposed to come in at 050... BUT.........I screwed up with my water amounts, so I ended up...

ok...took my OG...came in at 072....Recipe was calling for 050...Does this have anything to due with my mashing temps or times? I thought I really follow everything to a tee...This isn't a bad thing, but I am just confused... any help appreciated...

Did my first AG tonight....was so wrapped up in temps, times, and PH's that I forgot to take my yeast out of the fridge....How quickly can you use, or can I just prime with some warmer Wort???? It's been out for about an hour and I have an hour to go probably... tks

That's kinda what I thought....I feel dumb now for posting it, but I checked my initial set-up (Regulator, gauges, etc...) and everything checked out... I did read that artificial carbing would suck down some CO2....But I kinda knew it wasn't THAT much... Thanks everyone....:o
